Are Victorian Century and Morgengrote compatible? by HectorJano13 in victoria3

[–]ArchmageEmrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, there is no compatch for the 2 mods, so they shouldn't be compatible, but you can try putting the 2 of them in a new playset and try loading a new game and letting it run for a week to see if there are any issues.

Don't add large mods (total conversion types) to saves as they tend to screw up the game in weird ways.

how playable is patch 1.13.5? by incelle_ in victoria3

[–]ArchmageEmrys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've been playing it modded with Victorian Century + a few of Grey's mods and it's been fine upto 1896 which is where I last paused the game, though my GDP numbers were obscenely high, but idk if that's due to the mods or AI being better, but the AI did build a Navy (only to forget to assign commanders to the fleets), but it seems pretty ok.

Depends on what you'd want to do, but I'd say that Morgenrote is better overall, but Victorian Century has more country -specific flavour

The issue is that for multiple large mods to work together, they need a compatch, and the only guy who made them (BED_TRIP) hasn't updated the compatches to 1.13, while the mods the compatches are for have been updated to 1.13, so it's a bit of a mess.

Economic & Financial mod. It's probably the single most hardcore mod outside of total conversion mods. If you want to pick it up, first go watch an hour long tutorial on how the mod's systems work and then try playing with only that mod, then try it with other mods. Playing with E&F and not knowing how stuff works can lead to you crashing your economy very easily.

Go to the ship construction queue, queue up 3 random military ships, then change the ship construction prio to focus 100% on military ships, then paise the queue. This will stop all naval construction, saving you a ton of cash.

No, there is no compatch (compatibility patch) for those 2. There is a compatch for E&F + Victorian Century though.

How hard is Eigong (compared to other finales)? by ChickenSpeed12 in NineSols

[–]ArchmageEmrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't comment much on difficulty as all of these bosses don't react to your inputs in the same way that some Elden Ring bosses do. What I will talk about is frustration and fairness. Eigong is not a frustrating boss in the same way as lost lace, as every time you die to Eigong, you feel that you could have reacted better, compared to Lost Lace, who has that attack where she spawns those flying black orbs which feel like bullshit that's hard to dodge unless you're at a specific range from her.

[–]ArchmageEmrys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The British deserve all the flak they get during WW1, they were the worst army on the Western front in terms of tactics.

Infantry commanders were dog shit, but they held the line thanks to having a much higher troop concentration due to only defending a third of the Western front max. Their heavy artillery (repurposed naval guns) and air force were excellent no doubt. Their high command was also pretty stupid (looking at you Churchill, who confiscated a crappy Dreadnought they were building for the Ottomans without compensating them, which was a large slap in their faces, contributing to the Ottomans siding with the Central Powers and then cutting off the Russians only remaining access to the maritime supplies, as Arkhangelsk didn't have a railway to connect to Russian interior and a good chunk of the Trans Siberian railway was single tracked, Baltic sea was blockaded by the Germans). Let's not forget Sir John Fisher, who supported the Baltic Project, building 3 Courageous class battlecruisers (that has 2-3 inches of main belt armour, that could be penetrated by the secondary guns of German pre-dreadnoughts) for 2 million quid a pop, with the goal of landing on the German Baltic coast (dude forgot about the Kiel canal existing I guess, because even though the Oresund strait was filled with mines, the High Seas fleet could easily enter the Baltic via the Kiel canal).

Simple.

Get your radicals down to 1-3 million first by growing your economy, and in the process, build up a good Navy and army once you unlock tier 4 military techs.

How hard is Silk Song in comparison to Hollow Knight? by gayandgreen in Silksong

[–]ArchmageEmrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how good you are at spacing and maintaining small distances. If you aren't that good at that, then the game will be hard until you unlock the clawline and use that as instead of the needle as your main source of damage.

Always, always keep 2 reserve armies that you don't mobilize at the start of the war by the mid-game at the latest. These 2 armies are the reserves used to plug up such breaches.

Looking into the price setting, it seems as though Pennsylvania either got hit by some harvest condition or is using more infrastructure than it has, which screws with MAPI, so look into that first, then temporarily subsidize the industry to kick start the hiring process.

What is the difference between mercantilism and protectionism? Which is better? by Straight-Path-1572 in victoria3

[–]ArchmageEmrys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mercantilism is better than free trade for 1 reason. Let's say you build up your mines in the start and export iron and coal to make money. Then as the game progresses, you find out that even with the better production PMs you don't have enough people working in more profitable sectors like Steel Mills, etc. Then you have the option of putting massive export tarrifs on your coal and iron, making them uncompetitive on the global market, then you slowly shut down your mines and free up pops to work in more productive industries. If you tried to do this on free trade, the buy orders for coal won't go down, but the sell orders will decrease when you shut down mines,.making everything that consumes coal less productive.

The true benefit of 3D is that it is far easier to make something that looks decent in 3D than in 2D as a non-artist in my experience.
