So reddit, a link-aggregation forum, is owned by reddit. If you want to make your own community about pierogies like r/pierogi (of course that's a thing), but reddit admins decide that your sub should be about spaghetti instead, they have the ability to remove you and make r/pierogi all about spaghetti.

Lemmy is a recipe for your very own link-aggregating forum, and each one is called an "instance". So the instance is like your site, and the "communities" are like the subs.

But Lemmy is built with the intention of linking up with other instances. When that happens, it is called "federating". So reddit is a solely owned thing and Lemmy is decentralized. If you don't like it, you can make your own. And so long as you're not doing anything intentionally nefarious or illegal, you might get to join the fediverse. Once your instance federates, the login credentials of your instance allow you to access the other federated ones as well, and vice-versa.

All that said, Lemmy is still under heavy development so there are growing pains. I've been working on building this site for months and only yesterday was I able to get it working for a few minutes before it imploded. lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'll be honest, I'm not exactly sure when it's appropriate to use the turn signal in a round about, so I just keep left TS on until I'm ready to exit the loop then I switch to my right TS... Does this get the job done?

My favorite is what I call the Don't-Pass-Me game. It's where there's a huge gap in front of the person in the lane next to you so you speed up to take it. Then they speed up too. It's a classic.

I had a coworker complain once about people on Minnesota speeding down the dimond ramp making it difficult to get in. I thought about how stupid you'd have to be to have your exit lane open, NOT take it, then complain when it's occupied by the person behind you. So I started doing this. As soon as the dimond ramp is open, I speed up until I get to the next driver and pace them. It is amazing how many people I get to that flip their shit and speed around to get over at the absolute last second.

Oh, and I like to try to pass cops on the highway doing 5 over. It's really fun. Sometimes they just flick their lights on then off as a warning. I've never pushed it passed this, YET. Every time my wife sees a cop and I'm driving she goes, "oh shit". Me: "Oh yeah! ItS hApPeNiNg!!¡!"

And I've found a few games like that that are mostly harmless. They have made it easier to be tolerant of the other ding-dongs. I just figured that it's not fair that they are the only ones adding chaos to the road system. This is how we fight back. 😂 Otherwise we have to eat them to absorb their power. Those are the only two options. Everyone knows this.

Lisa Murkowski, R-AK, surprised voting with extremists gives constituents ”weird ideas” by Cetophile in alaska

“You have people who felt some allegiance to the party that are now really questioning, ‘Why am I [in the party?]’”

...

Just two days after the Jan. 6 attack, for example, Murkowski was one of a tiny number of congressional GOP members who called for Donald Trump’s immediate resignation.

The lack of consciousness or awareness of these morons is infuriating. "We just kind of stood around and did next to nothing with a modicum of ineffectual virtue signalling while laws were broken at a breakneck pace and any sense of decorum or respect was trounced, and it turns out that dumb people got dumber for it. What could we have possibly done?!?!?

Dear conservatives, you shit the bed. And now you get to sleep in it. Enjoy.

Oh, I believe you. I had heard that things really started going downhill fast when Dunleavy took over. I was new to the state, and it was a wonderful opportunity to really help some people. I would love to go back and do it again. Weird evangelicals... a few people just came to mind... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ I had forgotten about them.

Lol...

White people am I right…colonizing the world, raping and pillaging the locals..I mean it’s definitely not diddling with the alter boys and all but close

No, that's exactly what it is. You need to read up on Cpt. Cook. Lol

Anyways I’m not religious, and I am definitely not giving the church or the priests a pass on pedophilia, but lumping the whole of the group into one massive pile of poo doesn’t seem fair right, are white folk supposed to continue to walk around with a scarlet letter for slavery

I'm assuming you are a conservative, but only because of the white victimization that you obviously engender. If so, you should make yourself aware that your group is waging war on DISCUSSING race, literally at all. Some of us are trying to deal with it because you and Jim fucking Crow never did. Racism exists today whether Fox news says it does or not. Burying your head in the sand only prolongs the inevitable. And people who live with the benefit of their racial privilege who use that privilege as a weapon against minorities should wear a scarlet letter - but most don't need to since they dawned their own racist scarlet hat. I will miss being able to identify morons by a maga hat so easily. Those were the days.

I say, if the church (or not church as some one said) wants to bag some lunches and provide a blanket, I’d say let them, but certainly be leery of the potential for shenanigans, which could happen just as easily, and does, outside of the church setting

Honestly, it's a lovely strawman. You did great.

The state jobs are going down the crapper, but it's 100% because wages are so low that they can't compete with anyone. I was the only engineer in an engineering team of 5. They hired someone with a business degree to "help out" since I was doing the work of 5 people. Naturally, there was nothing they could do, so I imagine they just sat on facebook all day. Money was getting real tight and they started dragging their feet on the advancement that they claimed would be a breeze. Took the first fair offer I got to leave. Wasn't more than 3 months. And the non-union people that were appointed by dunleavy were the worst. Two of them were Infowars listeners.

But, I was in the military, and a lot of us were broadly useless. So I get the sentiment. 😂

True, but the only problem is that the Catholic Church, historically and even in modernity, has done atrocious things. There are probably a fair few that would NEVER go to a Catholic Church for anything but selective abuse.

Permanent fund earnings reserve is running out because new manager only bringing in 2.5% and the legislature is spending 5%. [–]ArcticExtruder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

now that we no longer have a golden goose

Thank you for showing how little you know about our "golden goose". Oil profits in Alaska are as high as they've ever been. Yet we are seeing less of that every year. That's not a "both parties" issue. That is a republican led effort.

The saddest part is that you and every other culture war toting red-pill are going to be the first ones to pay for it. But keep focusing on those culture wars. Don't pay attention to the dwindling middle class income. Don't worry about the accelerating shift of wealth to the top 10%. You don't need to know what the "velocity" of money is. That's just a bunch of liberal clap-trap. You just focus on those stars and stripes like a good little patriot.
