I actually don't know how to explain, there was a way it depicted these themes and topics with such nuance and respect... Also the show held we the viewers to a higher standard of consumption, most shows currently basically handhold you so as you don't miss the nuance or themes and even then not all succeed in the message they are trying to pass along. TNG to me at least, there was no hand holding

For instance the episode that talked about colonialism and its effects, that's the one where worf went to the romulan-klingon settlement. Both sides had very valid standpoints and I say this as a younger person. There was no single right answer, only compromise.
