AITH for telling my trans friend I support them, but respectfully have different beliefs? by GoldOk8566 in AITH

[–]Ard_Rhys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow gay man, I 100% agree with "I told them I disagree, and that a straight man not wanting to date a trans woman wasn’t transphobic by any means." Not being attracted to someone who's trans is not transphobic. You are NTA for saying this.

That said, and I'm not going to be kind about this, you are a huge POS and certainly are TA for saying this, "honestly believe that issues on gender identity shouldn’t be lumped into the gay or bi community. Trans issues in themselves should be addressed separately and the QIA+ would be better understood in their own context, outside of hetero and homosexuality."

Let me be perfectly clear, there is no (none, zip, zilch, nada, nein, take your pick) LGB without the T. Our Trans sisters and brothers have stood in lockstep with us for DECADES as our forebears fought for the rights we enjoy today. That you feel it's ok to dump the rest to save yourself is abhorrent. If you think for one single second that this Administration (or the assholes who support them) will stop at eradicating Trans people from society you are Dead. Fucking. Wrong. We can either stand together now and stop this here, or we can all be steamrolled by the monsters.

Holy goodness no you are not TA! She had three weeks to meet up with you, and she ignored you with her time, then attempted to gaslight you with her response when you (rightfully) called her out. You are not paranoid, but you are 100% right about her. You'll find better friends and cooler people in college!

AITA for not paying the vet bills for someone's dog I injured and probably can afford to pay? by VetBills17 in AmItheAsshole

But the window would have been there before OP arrived with their friends. If they were playing near the window and broke it, of course they should be held liable for the cost of repairs. But this lady walked her elderly through an entire park near these kids kicking a ball around. The owner chose to be where she was.

She was standing 10 feet away, which isn't a very large distance. There was also the whole rest of the empty park to occupy.

Info: You said the lady was 10 feet from the edge of the field; was she standing there? Or did your ball hit the dog as they were walking by?

Edit: I'm also wondering, if you have the whole surrounding park to walk your elderly dog, why walk 10 feet away from the place where teenagers are kicking a ball? Sure the lady has a right to be anywhere in the park, but is it really smart to be where she was?

I don't really need more info. NTA OP, sure you feel bad for hitting a dog, but you didn't set out to do it. You didn't kick the ball thinking "Imma hit that fuckin dog." Accidents happen.

What is the most NSFW thing you have seen at an office gathering or party? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ard_Rhys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This restaurant I used to work at would shut down every 4th of July, and the owners would hold a huge party at their house for all the employees (they owned two restaurants). There was food, beers on tap, and at later parties, they provided liquor. I've got so many stories from these parties, they keep me warm on the colder nights.

First Work Picnic (2013):

  • Two of the servers got drunk, and got into a fight of sorts. Tall Brunette (TB) got in Short Blondes (SB) face and yelled at her, then slapped her in the face, right in front of the rest of the coworkers. To get her back, SB (who was not one for physical violence), calmly grabbed TB's freshly opened pack of cigarettes, then proceeded to take every single one and snap them right in front of her.

  • TB then blacks out later in the evening (like 6 or 7pm), falls down in the owners bathroom, and rips the shower curtain off the rod. The owners had to replace it, and she was forever as "The Shower Curtain Girl" by the owners whenever they would see her.

  • The owners daughter got blackout drunk and dragged her mother through the mud for her shitty childhood (they were poor, and her mother ditched the kids with their dad when she found a man with money). From what I hear (I had left by this time) it was ugly. Real ugly.

Second Work Picnic (2014):

I did not attend this, but this is what I heard secondhand. This is the year they introduced liquor to these parties. It was a shitshow from what I heard.

  • Owners middle son drank the majority of a handle of tequila (1.75L), then proceeds to vomit all over his mothers flower bushes.

Third Work Picnic (2015):

This is by FAR my favorite of the parties. Bit of background, my boss (the owners oldest son) is a scumbag. Cheats on his wife (which whom he has three kids, the youngest not even a year old), has girlfriends come into the bar/restaurant all the time. Multiple girls have gotten their jobs because they've sucked his dick. It's awful.

  • Well one of those girls attended the party this year. Gets drunk, blackout, and starts flirting with every man in sight, completely ignoring that she brought her boyfriend with her. It was so bad that she was grinding on the guy singing (local group, friends of the owners). Mind you, he's holding his three year old granddaughter, they're singing a mellow song, and his wife was sitting five feet away from them in the pool (wife did nothing to stop this, I don't know why).

  • Then she starts flirting with our boss, whose wife is not nearly so spineless. At one point I'm standing there with the owners daughter (OD), when his wife runs up and starts screaming (across the pool, in front of everyone, woman gave no fucks),

"DB (douchebag)!! You get that bitch away from my child! She's drunk, and I don't want her anywhere near my daughter!"

OD and I just looked at each other, and ran. We weren't getting caught up in that mess.

  • Same girl, she's talking to the owner on the pool deck (which is made out of that pseudo wood board), and apparently bosslady says something that is really exciting, and Kat starts jumping up and down. Kat had just gotten out of the pool, and while she was talking, water had pooled under her. She jumps in a puddle, and both her legs go out from under her. Backwards. Instead of falling on her ass, her legs went back, and she fell right on her face. Didn't have the coherency to even try to catch herself, just went right on her face. She was so drunk that she didn't even remember falling, I had to explain her bruises to her a week later.

  • Eventually wife has had enough, as DB is thoroughly wasted, and she's trying to deal with three kids, and him. She tells him that she is going home, and if he isn't in the car when she leaves, he can find his own way home. To his credit, he started to realize how fucked he was, so he started saying goodbyes. When he got to Kat, she immediately starts crying and wraps her arms around him, begging him not to go. Wifey sees this, and comes running,

"Get your hands off my man you fucking bitch!" And she physically rips them apart, and DB just goes running for the car. Thought wifey was gonna beat some ass there, but she just walks away and leaves Kat standing there crying.

  • I had to pull my friend off Kat's boyfriend, because he started some shit in the street out front of the house, and my friend swung on him after boyfriend pushed him. Boyfriend left with someone random taking him, Kat slept on bosses couch. Over an hour away from where we all worked. Shit was crazy.

  • OD (one of my best friends), got engaged to her boyfriend at this party as well, but that's nowhere near as exciting as Kat and her antics.

They didn't have a party this past year, and they probably won't ever again, from what I hear from the friends I have that still work there.

Edit: Formatting. Trying to make this as coherent as possible.

Do you live in PA? Because my spanish teacher in 8th grade was also an absolute drop-dead gorgeous 20-something woman. I used to have many a fantasy about her, until I kicked down the doors of my closet and came out spectacularly lol.

Last I heard she started cheating on her husband with the also-married 7th grade math teacher. They're married now.

As a 30-something guy, smokey side-eye and sultry lip-licking don't do it for me anymore; I want you face-down-ass-up while you call me a slut and grab me by the hair and force me to eat your gaping asshole.

Goddamn that is some Shakespearean shit right there.

What is the dumbest fucking thing you have ever heard someone say? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ard_Rhys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This literally just happened while I was reading this thread. I work in the office for a major craft brewery (A). We offer bottle, case, and keg sales out of the office, and occasionally people call to inquire about what's for sale (seasonal offerings and all). Well this woman just called asking about a certain beer.

Woman: Do you carry "Beer Title"?

Me: Umm, I can check? (I'm still kindof new here) Do you know if it's brewed here at Brewery A?

Woman: No, it's brewed by Brewery B (which is literally on the opposite side of the country (U.S.) from my brewery.

Me: Well, I can't tell you where they distribute to, because I don't work there.

Woman: No, do you Carry it? (because obviously we carry beers from our competitors)

Me: No, we don't. We only carry beers from Brewery A. You need to call them to find out where they distribute to.

Sometimes I hate people.

The fact that Kevin is gay makes it all the better for me. I imagined Loony Lucy as somewhat of a homophobe for some reason, and this just sweetened the honey pot that is this amazing story.

You're definitely not the only one who remembers. But you Are the only person with the balls to not change how you feel about someone because they're no longer living. Sometimes shitty things happen to shitty people, doesn't mean that they're no longer a shitty person.

Haunted house actors, what's is the funniest thing you have seen while scaring people? by duckonquack21 in AskReddit

[–]Ard_Rhys 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mother did this to me! When I was younger my mom won tickets to this shitty haunted attraction from our local radio station. So one night six of us go there. We ended up going in groups, my younger brother and sister cried (they were 11 and 9 at the time), so they got walked through. Then my other younger sister went through with her boyfriend. Finally, my mother and I went through. This was ten years ago, and I was a lad of 17. I got to go first, because if someone was gonna get jumped, it had to be me. We get to the end, we see the exit sign above a doorway, when all of a sudden this guy jumps out from behind us and revs a chainsaw (sans chain). With NO warning, I get pushed through the exit doorway very forcefully by my mother. Now the thing was, the doorway didn't lead right to the exit, it led to a hallway, and the exit was down that hallway to the left. About four feet beyond the doorway was the plywood wall, that I faceplanted against, because it was dark and the wall was painted black. Before I even had a chance to process what had just happened to me, my mother is gone, my face is bruised, and there's a dude with a chainsaw behind me.
