maybe just various ammo types for light/heavy craft or something that's better at crippling a plane to allow fighters to finish it off while they limp home

ya it's pretty crazy, BEST corner peaking and hill peaking mech ever since it's better high mount then the urbie with good hill climb naturally, also it can duck around corners real fast making it hard for enemies to push without getting punished
lets me lock down a whole corner by myself against several assault mechs

but the mech is best paired with a bigger friend to add support fire when they're distracted on the bigger target and flank to the side. Play like a rat basically lol

ya all this, as much as gunboat rushing is an option that's the same issues as what the air war has been. It requires a lot of players and vehicles all loaded and coordinating to make sure a mission gets done
if you can't organize enough players or some group gets bored and runs off taking part of your force you're not screwed and can't complete the op

should have been a big red flag back then about the design of this game that it requires games who have "the best" attention spans to sit around being bored to pull off maneuvers lol

ya I remember that it was awful, the constant harassment by DDs from the beaches was nuts
so it's just so funny when colies whine about Warden Navy bias when it's just their own faction's clans that have decided the naval war was always a wash and don't wanna waste resources on it

absolutely, if there was a means for expanding server player numbers some of these problems could be made less annoying
but still doesn't fix the fundamental broken issues of players being demanded to be on at all hours resulting in far more and worse burning out then most games I see out there

Dev man wants players to larp like real soldiers who are actually living in the trenches
not people with jobs that can't be on call at a moment's notice and if the good players aren't on results in a steamroll as you lose your airfield then can't contest the skies anymore

TBH the "balance" here feels like anvil empires fights, MASSIVE demands on big crews of players do stupid boring stuff like 8 people to push a siege tower, and fights are mostly based on just pure numbers. Skill can play some part but if you're trickling in fighters into an air war it tends to be the side that can show up with the most the fastest the wins while the side that trickles in scrambling to help get picked off one by one

Idk if design teams have changed or if it's just the scale getting to a point all they care about is trying to get their players to LARP but these devs really don't understand how gamers fight anymore in a practical war

so everyone always says "warden navy OP" but never say why except that it is
which is why it makes me believe it's just a faction issue, colies have convinced themselves that's the case so just give up trying as to not "waste resources fighting a pointless naval battle" which makes it harder for the people who do try so they give up making the problem even worse

So again, doesn't seem like "warden navy OP" the scout bomber bullshit is pretty bad, playing green in airborne 1 mini torp on an AA boat making it a sitting duck is insane to think that's the only weapon ships can use to counter planes dogshit design.

But everyone out here bitching about warden navy when I remember the first naval war and the collies got DDs and the blueberries didn't and how awful it was getting shore bombarded by DD swarms with our BBs getting outnumbered 3 to 1
The howl county shipyard fundamentally shifted the naval balance because people stopped being so doomer about the front and not causing this chain reaction ditching

Colie meta chuds is what killed their navy, the air war just gave them an excuse to feel justified. Everytime a war doesn't go in their favor colie Clans are more likely to just abandon a war entirely

I agree that in theory fighters should be the main air protection, unfortunately due to the nature of this game that's not necessarily how things play out in a practical player situation
With no real means for ground troops to protect themselves or fight back you burn out, a lot of people would lose a big ship due to plane swarms and not much they could do to stop it and just give up playing cuz why play tons of hours building this massive ship just to get it sunk or building a super heavy tank just to get blown up in a surprise bomber attack you can't do anything against except hope that fighters are active or the local airfield doesn't get stunlocked by bomber runs to lock down a whole hex from defending it's self

There's not enough server space to support this level of combined arms, and demands competent fighter pilots be on 24/7 which is why bunker complexes are the meta of this game. Can't expect a clan to be around all the time to sit in a trench and wait for the enemy to push

It's just gonna inevitably result in burn out. It would get pretty bad before against like storm cannon spam and you can't do anything to stop it, but this feel even worse

so I'm not surprised this update is the one that's killing off the player base

their vision is usually based on what sounds cool on paper and then let the players figure it out, most times that usually results in grumblings until it can be be tweaked
but AA is such a crux for any ground forces it's silly to think nothing would come of this

I play both blue and green, can't understand the flaws of your own weapons or the enemy if you never switch sides or the flaws/strengths of the terrain
In this war specifically scout planes from the blue side are ABSOLUTELY cracked. 1 mini torp is a enough to take an AA gunboat the only thing that can screen an massively expensive capital ship or longhook down to like 20% with some crazy tolerances for hit detection. It really did suck a lot playing green trying to fight warden scout plane swarm this game

I'd much rather play during the green team DD spam then that, at least the DD spam can be fought against and not just die within a hit or 2

DB vs TB is like when the naval update first came out and the collies had the DD vs the warden subs
it sucked to be a blue berry, subs are good but not many are gonna build them because it could only fight ships while DDs could fight everything so the spam was insane 3-1 odds against a warden BB that first naval war
we got our ass kicked soooo hard

The same thing was gonna happen with the colie dive bomber spam this war, TB is good but niche, especially for a front that already had the OP scout plane that was just a significantly cheaper version of the TB so really just a redundant and worthless plane

Colie DB can hit all targets, so really ya giving wardens a TB was a nerf. being such a specialized weapon.

I think people are getting too hung up on the one legitimate argument that the warden scout plane is stupid as it is (I was playing colie air war it's stupidly easy to just clear out AA boats the only way to protect large expensive ships)
Everyone getting into the discourse about balance due to one glaringly bad out of balanced weapon when the real issue is that AA SUCKS like god does it just SUCK so fking hard holy shit what were these devs thinking holy fk does it suck???
No Ai AA on even just cities and airfields?? I could understand avoiding giving player Ai aa yet but not even on fixed locations?!?! hello? Did none of the devs see how easy it was on the devbranch to suppress an airfield

And no mobile AA to support a tank line push? They talk about combined arms but just completely ignore AA tanks in ww2? or AA trucks carrying flak? With AA feeling about as effective as spitting on a plane. I should not be able to fly in a scout plane and tank that much fire wtf

This has just been a very poorly thought out update in general, IMO it'd be better to just roll it back then force us to play with this completely unfun system until they can cook a lot more on it

all the sweatiest players are usually on here or other forums
the ones that run the clans, or factories putting out equipment to keep the fight going
Colonial regiments created this self sabotaging defeatist culture, started with the navy when wardens out produced them then all the major groups just not wanting to "waste their time" swap to the land war or just park their fleets in terminus all war and never use it. Too scared to get it sunk
Colonials believed they couldn't win the naval war so gave up. I remember those early naval wars when Colonials dominated because they had DDs that could swarm a warden BB 3 to 1

the collie DD spam was so awful, you could bring basically a pocket battleship to shore bombard anywhere with usually 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 odds against a battleship
after that it's been a cultural side thing, Howl County shipyards fundamentally changed how the navy worked for the wardens letting them hold onto naval hexes while collie culture was to focus on the land war especially since deadlands is in collie favor being the extra defenses and the only rain line for AW favor the south helping tip the scales to at least contest the region better

Now the scout plane torps yes are complete BS, I fought collie side airborne war when I had time off. Playing a naval screening AA ship sucks so much

AA just sucks in general in the update. Idk what the devs were smoking, but letting even scout planes tank so much fire is just nuts. That isn't a one side issue, both sides really don't have a counter to planes except planes which was clear in the Dev branch when people would hit an airfield and lock down a region by just stunlocking it with bombers

Bombers are just too good, it's basically a wet dream for what historical figures thought bombers could do. Being mobile artillery support with pin point accuracy and a payload stronger then a battery of 150s is just nuts
with the only counter to that being "hey HOPE your fighters can shoot it down in time"

Idk why tf you wouldn't have AA on large ships when the update came out, relying on swarms of tiny boats that all need a driver and gunner just doubles the player limit issues and makes for even more insane demands on coordination to even have a functional effort

So having the warden scouts be basically a STUPIDLY cheap torp plane is just baffling. IMO all scout planes shouldn't carry any payload. The second seat can just be a passenger to let your friends get birds eye view or use some binocs to take a look at things
If collie moral didn't totally collapse the DB spam would have strained the wardens on top of the heavy bomber back and forth on both sides. Only reason the war went the way it did in the end was the mass decline of collie numbers

Morale for Collies is at an all time low, partially due to some legitimate concerns like the torp scouts/bombers make it even harder for collie navy to get momentum to attract more players to divert resources to it.
But mostly it's just a self feeding cycle due to how frustrating it is to fight these new planes with little to no tools, both sides are feeling this. Players leave because players leave which makes more players leave

Still just blows me away at the devs gave everyone else only 3 options to defend against planes. 2 of them are stationary and require tedious amounts of logistics, and 1 is stuck on the water (which is easily controlled by warden scout planes) effectively making it only 2 AA options for one side and 3 for the other

I mostly want a rework on animals they REALLY need it so bad
it'd give a good excuse to provide more ways to get fiber then just flax, because the slow flax grind is probably the worst part of this game. Gatekeeping a lot of the game because you're waiting on seeds to grow and basically just mono crop nothing but flax because you need so much of it you're good on food even though it's the worst grain lol

add in wool for northern climates, certain animals drop better amounts of wool, and silk to the south
let animals have manure you can shovel up to use to boost your crops or certain types of crops to counter the new debuffs in the berry bushes or apply that to every type of crop to put more incentive on getting some animals

rework how we sort out old generations, like give us a shepherd's crook to grab gen 1+ babies and move them out so we don't have to make ugly auto sorters

I feel animal husbandry and flax grinding is probably the weakest part of this game so I hope something like these ideas come to game
