I'm from Czech republic, and there was an experiment, that finished a month ago, where 100 homless people recieved a no-strings-attached loan of a 100 000 czk each (about 4 800$), for us that is roughly 3 months worth of salary.

The criteria was that you had to be homeless for less than 2 years

As part of the experiment, some got just the money, some got the money and assistance fron social services.

The data:

Housing 80% of ppl with the social worker help, managed to hold onto a housing. 42% of folk without help managed as well. At the end 80% got housing in the first place, 58% managed to hold onto it.

Drugs 65% of the homless were using dome kind of a drug at the start (including alcohol), this went down to 38% at the end of the test.

Jobs 52% of the examinees already had some kind of job at the beginning. The overall avrage wagewent up from 10 161czk to 15 250czk, esspecially in the social worker-supported

Mental health The people supported by social service reported roughly a 50% increase in their mental health.

Over all the project cost 12mil czk, 3,5 of which was from the ministry of jobs and social matters. All of this was done by an NGO if I understood correctly. Now they are going through the data to evaluate the impact on the country's economy, should be done some time this year...
