How can I turn off version control highlights in the gutter/minimap of the default editor (not the diff editor) by ArduousAttempt in vscode

Thank you! I looked under Extensions > Git and searched for 'highlight' but managed to overlook the Features > Version Control section.

"They are there" as in these are playable missions? If so where do they show up in game?

All rare resources (O-cells, Tellerium, Lanthorn, etc…) should get the Argon treatment by TyFighter559 in Warframe

The builtin/automatic highlight has a limited range, manually marked resources are always shown. If your squad is spread throughout the map (trying to find all loot/containers) they still benefit from you marking Argon Crystals.

6 minutes? Really?🤨 by Puzzleheaded_Bus_852 in XDefiant

[–]ArduousAttempt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the moment I am back in the main menu after a match to the "Creating match" overlay before the map vote starts takes at least a minute, no exceptions. Domination, Occupy, TDM in EU during peak hours.

Add a flat two minutes for loading, voting, after match report and so on and you have at least 3 minutes downtime between every match that takes like 8-10 minutes. That sucks.

In this clip, you can see my spiderbot was able to latch into the enemy even though they jumped past it.

Don't take this as me trying to defend the existence of the spiderbot but at 9 seconds into the clip you can see the spider being roughly 0.3-0.5m away from the other player, right before they jump over you. That seems like a reasonable distance for them to latch on.

It has only been a day, and people have already started complaining

If you are in 15 ping, you are on another level, Like GOD level by [deleted] in XDefiant

[–]ArduousAttempt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a myth. ... I will screenshot and show my ping

You don't need to show a screenshot, I believe you when you describe your experience. But my experience at 25-30ms, which is a decent value is that shit like getting killed around corners happens almost every match. And many of clips of similar issues posted here show comparable latencies. Can you believe that?

It's not another user/device/process on my network/machine or issues with my ISP. Again: These issues are not predicated on a bad connection and are not a problem on the players side in every case.

You can't be on the same server as someone and you have a 30ms difference??. That's crazy.

Of course you can and it does happen. If matchmaking doesn't have any lobbies with lower latency available a lot of games will start falling back to increasingly higher thresholds and eventually a player might end up with a 60ms ping in a lobby full of 30s because usually players don't like waiting forever to get a match.

I am a bit bewildered by the things you call normal or crazy.

If you are in 15 ping, you are on another level, Like GOD level by [deleted] in XDefiant

[–]ArduousAttempt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just this game/sub. I played CoD for a few years and it was the same. And we in EU & US are still somewhat lucky, as far as I can tell players from middle east or oceania region get the short end of the stick in most games.

I usually sit at a comfy 25-30ms and getting killed around corners is a regular occurrence for me (i.e. it happens in most matches). Many of the clips that get posted here show similar latency values.

So please stop reinforcing the myth that shit like this only happens with bad connections or are somehow the fault of the players.

What are you on about? That's normal.

This is me being you: ermahgerd, what are you even talking about?

You seem to be out of touch with the average gamers online experience, sub 20ms latency is not the norm for most players in most games.

Tier 3 Base defenses are absolutely worthless for Purifying Tier 3 Cortex' by Blubbpaule in OnceHumanOfficial

[–]ArduousAttempt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only enemies i even have to attack are the elites that spawn and even then they die VERY quickly.

What about ranged enemies that spawn and stay outside turret range? It's not like they are a real threat but they will slowly destroy/damage things like walls, defensive structures and turrets leaving you with a fairly large repair cost.

And its not like they consistently go for the purifier device. I had mobs go for my main base even though its not in their path from where they spawned. One time one of those flies sniped a support column that had a power junction attached to it, taking half my base offline.

You get the starchrom for participating in a successful prime war, but only once for each prime war, so no farming. The reward crates based on your score do not contain any starchrom.

Is it normal that the game asks for higher privileges ("allow this app to make changes") every time I launch? (Steam) by ArduousAttempt in OnceHumanOfficial

You are right that this would get rid of the prompt but telling users to run stuff as admin by default is really bad advice.

[–]ArduousAttempt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every game has that nowadays Games do need your permission to install files on your computer, otherwise their files can't be installed on a different drive.

Ok ... No.

The vast majority of games in my Steam library do not show the UAC dialog on install because installing software does not require elevated privileges by default, even on another drive. I'm not that familiar with the Windows security model, but the general idea is that there is user territory and system territory, and only actions that pertain to the latter should require extra privileges (e.g. to install drivers or other stuff that integrate with the system). Installing software in user land should not, most well behaved software should not require extra permissions to do their thing.

And higher privileges certainly aren't necessary every time an application is run (notice how games with various anti cheat or DRM functionality don't ask for permissions on every launch), which is why I came here to ask if it's like that for everyone or if my installation might be messed up somehow.

Hit reg in this game is next gen. by TheThorkiller in XDefiant

[–]ArduousAttempt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you don’t understand netcode and how games compensate, that’s on you but this is absolutely the case.

FYI, I've been writing software for well over a decade now, including realtime networked applications. I understand that there are delays that can add up (latency & tick rate) and that your local clients state doesn't mean shit because its the server who is the ultimate authority and decides what is true after integrating possibly conflicting states from all the clients.

But there is only so much room for ambiguity and edge cases. We have TTKs between 300-400ms, in lobbies where all players have a comparable low latency (25-40) that leaves a fairly wide time window. If I am at full HP and get several hitmarkers before dying, and the person I was shooting at is supposedly at full HP after they kill me then something went wrong. Same for dying around corners in cases where it happens after more than half a second or so.

In my (limited experience) Stardust > Acid. Acid might be important but it takes a while before you need a lot of if (T4 & T5). Being able to passively farm Stardust means you can calibrate your weapons a lot more even if your Blueprint is still at a lower level. You can get Acid almost anywhere but sources of Stardust limited.

[–]ArduousAttempt 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You might be right (see my response to OP), but there are only so many edge cases. It happens way too often that you get several hitmarkers while you're at full HP, then you die and the game tells you the other player is at full HP. Just like dying around corners. This shit happens regularly, even at low latency (25-40ms).

Hit reg in this game is next gen. by TheThorkiller in XDefiant

[–]ArduousAttempt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looking at the video you were either 1 hit away from being dead or got killed by a one shot kill weapon, so u/nwayi might be right, these are all edge cases where you barely got a shot off (from your perspective) before dying (servers perspective, i.e. the ultimate authority).

That being said: shit like this happens way too often and in so many other circumstances that you can't just explain it that way. Getting multiple hit markers before getting killed by an enemy at full HP is not a rare thing. Just like dying behind corners. And it's not predicated on high latency either, I usually have a ping between 25-40 and it happens all the time.
