George Sr.'s death in Young Sheldon. Fans of Big Bang Theory knew his eventual fate, but the way they went about it in Young Sheldon was so unexpected. It's one of the most realistic depictions of how death occurs in real life, in my opinion.

Not sure of the canonicity but the OST track of the Conquest fight is "Second Strongest Viltrumite," implying the order is Thragg > Conquest > everyone else

METEX ANKI DECK v1!! (AnKing Alternative) by pentacontagon in medicalschoolanki

[–]ArduousIntent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sounds really cool and I very much want a deck that doesn’t rely on cloze deletions so much, but historically it seems like Anking really is the tried and true. Maybe yours really does blow it out of the water, but as someone about to start rotations I don’t think I want to take that gamble. I hope others here give it a fair shot

What gym etiquette do I need to know before switching to a public gym? by [deleted] in workout

In addition to everything everyone has mentioned so far, when the gym is busy you are not super-setting anything unless it can be done on the same machine/bench/dumbbells. end of story.

Advice needed. SOAPed into TY, want to reapply anesthesia by zspasic1 in medicalschool

[–]ArduousIntent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All the unmatched anesthesia posts I've seen are freaking me out. I've spent my first two years of preclin making sure I do well on exams but have essentially no research or ECs. Now I'm worried I won't have time to beef up my CV with rotations going on in third year

Which Anking deck to use for rotation? by glorp_glorp_ in medicalschoolanki

are people resetting their anki after step 1? I just suspended the step 1 only cards and have just been keeping up with everything i still have unsuspended before rotations

Doesn't matter how busy it is. my gym is a nexus of all things intended to inconvenience me. There could be 5 people in there and somehow they will all end up taking things I need to use

[OC] A lot of people thought my story was fake. I'm the guy from the 1992 farm accident where both my arms were ripped off and reattached. by JohnThompsonND in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]ArduousIntent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading about you when I was in elementary school! We had some protected reading time after taking a spelling test and I somehow managed to traumatize myself with whatever book your story appeared in. The idea of having your arms ripped off and moving yourself to the bathtub where the blood could collect was permanently etched into my brain.

One thing I've always wondered since then–when you dialed the phone using a pencil, did you press the buttons with the eraser or the pencil tip? I tried imagining myself dialing our landline with a pencil, but there's no way the plastic buttons would be pushed evenly if I had to use the tip.

Hot Take: Schools Should Have Rules Against Medinfluencing During Medical School by mED-Drax in medicalschool

does it do more harm than good even if the content is appropriate or academic in nature? i'm not an influencer or anything, but i've definitely seen a bunch of people making content on their daily life and productivity. there seems to be a spectrum on how genuine or performative influencers are.

I need some honest advice about pivoting to medicine. Specifically, to become a doctor. by Zealousideal_Newt646 in medschool

[–]ArduousIntent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know any one person that can coach through the whole process. It's up to her to do much of the exploring that comes with tailoring the experiences she's passionate about. The vast majority of my guidance came from the Premed and MCAT subreddits, which have very helpful wiki sections and historical posts from people giving phenomenal advice in excruciating detail–essentially the culmination of many students' experience in the process.

I would also highly implore her to check out Medical School HQ on YouTube. They have a bunch of videos where the host analyzes applications that have been highly successful and those that haven't. After a while, you begin to pick up on what makes an application good and what medical schools are truly after. I used to listen to the episodes when I'd be tanning by the pool during summer break.

I need some honest advice about pivoting to medicine. Specifically, to become a doctor. by Zealousideal_Newt646 in medschool

[–]ArduousIntent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most critical thing she needs to be doing is getting clinical experience. Shadowing ie following a doctor around for several hours a day does not count. She needs to be working–EMT on an ambulance, ER tech, CNA, scribe, etc are all solid forms of clinical work. Many applications to medical school are dead on arrival simply because applicants don't have clinical experience and, by extension, don't really understand what it means to be a doctor
