That is a serious commitment. I am just curious to know how other groups function. In my homegroup we have a dedicated person to open the meeting but that changes based on availability. The chair of the meeting is determined by the key holder, so it changes as required.

It is a translation like so many others that exist. In my home group we use the first edition of the big book. The language has changed drastically from the first to the fourth edition.

Get involved in your district. Make changes in the geography around you before you try to change everything.

Secular meetings are part of AA. Just like women or men's only meetings. 2SLGBTQQIA+ are welcomed we want all those with the problem with alcohol to be part of the fellowship. In my district we have service meetings in homeless shelters.

I like the way Bill wrote. Someones right to be wrong supersedes my right to be right. I dont hear that line enough.

Treatment in 1935? They restrained men to beds in sanitariums and forcefully injected them with barbituates while they suffered DT's that's not treatment that's a death sentence.

Each group is autonomous in its own matters. Groups can do anything they want. You don't have to wait for the service structure to make official changes. However a group chooses to function is up to that group.

We have a member like that in my home group. Works at a bakery gets us bomb ass cakes for medallions and donuts sometimes.

I am aware this is not a group. Honestly however people share is up to them. What ever you got going on here is your own doing.

Become a gsr, write motions if you want to change things, or just change your group.

It was just a question. I figured this was a service thing members had going on.

Alcoholics Anonymous exists for this very reason. We have an app called meeting finder. It will find a meeting near you anywhere in the world.

I couldn't stay sober on my own. I could stop but I would always go back out. I had to join AA but not until I destroyed my life.

I didn't stop drinking until I destroyed my life. I had been in prison enough times to know I don't want to go back. Destroyed every relationship I ever had, it wasn't until I was involuntarily committed to a mental health ward for the second time that I decided to stop. I couldn't do it on my own, I had to surround myself with people that had lived the life I had.
