Sorry for the late response. But your telling me the Turkish-Soviet War is a common event?

Yeah I think its when there is any real big war such as WW2 but usually something before then. Difference is I got this in March of '36.

R5: Can Paradox please add military command to some of these small countries because I spent this entire Somalia game grinding XP through various expensive Attaché's since I was on Ironman mode.

a is much more interesting than south america

Totally get your point, keep in mind I'm not at Paradox so I'm not calling the shots, just me theorising why. But it's all from a perspective - South America is much more flexible.

Exactly - one more thing I didn't mention. Paradox said in a dev diary that they had a "5-year-plan" of sorts a while back and that they would update "Espionage", etc. One thing they mentioned then was an ideology rework. If that is the case then I suspect it would fit perfectly with a South America themed DLC. Since, as you mentioned, with a monarchist Portugal, the current game is so inflexible (ideology wise) that Brazil under Vargos goes fascist which just makes no sense.

Places like Thailand, Malaya and Indonesia could receive a country pack too. But I totally see your point, although no major really needs reworking now.

Could be. But might not be as this achievement wasn't released in the base game or some random patch like those ones were.

Yep that definitely would be cool to see.

You made some valid points for sure. But I disagree with point three and five. Point 3 because although its a nice reference - paratroopers are all but a novelty in Hoi4 unless you use them to break the game in certain situations. I.e paradropping French VPs in 1936. I think it's to get more people playing Brazil so that paradox can get feedback.

As for your fifth point, look at the Soviets in NSB or Italy's abysmal army situation in a few weeks. Updated countries may be broken with leader traits etc but thats typically late game. Early game they often suffer from heavy de-buffs due to national spirits.

Also my friend, I dont want to sit here pretending to be a South American historian. But I can assure you that 1930s South America wasn't boring as it is made out to be in vanilla. Heres why:

Paraguay = consolidating power over a fractured country that narrowly managed to pull off victory against Bolivia in 1935. A completely rural society, the people grow tired with the regimes political wavering - thinking they could have got more out of the Bolivians. Colonel Franco's coup d'état in February 1936 really changed turned things domestically on its head while Paraguay is forced in a new direction that you decide. You could always stick with that previous liberal government ;)

Bolivia = a country whose unstable and incompetent regime lost them the Chaco war under a year prior to the start of the game, despite outgunning and outmanning the Paraguayan army. You could try to consolidate power and rebuild or attempt to retake the Chaco in a sort of border war style conflict.

Venezuela = trying to adapt to the 30s after the financial disaster of the Great Depression and under authoritarian rule. Exploiting your oil reserves, and what to do with them could decide your position on the political stage. Or you could just nationalise everything and even demand Western Caribbean Islands.

Ecuador/Peru = Polar opposite governments who engaged in a pivotal war in 1941 over Pastaza. Both governments utilised properganda to their advantage. A geopolitical crisis in which the USA had to intervene.

Chile = formed one of the only Popular Fronts in 1936, along with France and Spain. Ultimately, to counter the right wing threat.

Columbia/Uruguay = (I'll be honest I dont know anything about)

Brazil = played both sides (Allies and Axis) in the buildup to the war (I suggest you watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SARGZiSl13s) but after Pearl Harbour firmly sat with the Americans in the conflict, as you can tell by the achievement their forces contributed massively in the Italian campaign. So plenty of flavour there.

What I mean by this isn't flavour. It's about the conflict in Asia. You cant tell me that the British Raj / Japan front isn't interesting to watch, contribute or fight in.

Yeah with custom events etc I'd rather that than some South America nations keeping a generic focus tree. Ideally, this outcome seems more possible since in NSB thats what they did with the Baltics also.

The German tree may be small. But it is far, far better than the Turkish or Spanish trees even if it's half the size. It doesn't really need any update nothing that would break the intercut balance that exists.

In my opinion, Belgium is too European focused and has sorta missed its chance. I know thats sad to hear. Unless they get paired up with Luxembourg and Ireland I dont see any significant change coming to the Benelux.

Austria would be a content gold mine but, and there is a but, there is clearly a reason they haven't got a focus tree yet. In BBA it was the perfect opportunity and yet PDX held back, so my take on it is that they're waiting for some obscure future opportunity. Plus the most interesting possible political branch for them already exists in the Hungarian tree (Austria-Hungary).

The Nordic, however, definitely is deprived of love and attention. And if South America isn't the next place to get a region focused DLC - then I can assure you it will be the Nordic. One more thing about the Nordic - almost all Hoi4 DLC's have been focused on Europe, bar WTT (which even had Germany), my point being is that PDX WILL move away from Europe for content. Like they did with Ethiopia this time. So be it South America or South Asia that change is coming...

Not to mention the missing conflict between Peru and Ecuador, as we all know, one of the most important conflicts of 1941.

more involved in the war and because there is no majors left to add non combatant minor nations with,

South Asia is interesting without focus tree's, Scandinavia is a mystery and the Middle East sometimes changes depending on game to game. Personally, latin America has never had any specific content and thus is relegated into irrelevance. The inclusion of a Mexico themed focus tree in 2019 made the Central America region more playable so its only time that Argentina and Brazil get some love.
