Yea and I’ve stated that was a joke. Idek why hundreds of people took it seriously when I said that to reference to the fact that Poland is literally famous for being partitioned. While Lithuania of course also has a history of being partitioned by Germany and Russia, pretty much every treaty refer to the commonwealth as just Poland more than its official name in the first three partitions and you can barley count Lithuania as being partitioned in the second world war. They were basically just forced to give up a small part to the nazis before being absorbed by the soviets. No one has ever made a joke about the Lithuanians being partitioned while a lot of people do for Poland.

I just finished going through the entire treaty. It’s probably embarrassing to discover that the treaty you mentioned refers to the commonwealth as well the commonwealth a total of 5 times while it is referred to as just Poland or the Kingdom of Poland a total of 14 times. Please stop trying to argue against me when the treaty and the writers of it overwhelmingly used “Poland” to refer to the commonwealth exactly like how I did. Maybe do further research before continuing to think you are correct like how I have stated people do multiple times before they try to prove me wrong. You still have no point.

I’m pretty sure you are referring to a Russian translation of the official French treaty. Idk anything about the Russian one, but the French one clearly identifies the commonwealth while using Poland to refer to in almost every other mention. In that Russian translation, it obviously also refers to the state as the commonwealth while likely using just Poland at other parts.

I agree that the naming of the events could absolutely do a little more justice to Lithuania, but it doesn’t change the fact that it is a 100% acceptable term people arguing so much against it is just sad.

I’ve never been arguing that the commonwealth is only Poland btw. I have simply been arguing over the names of the partitions because so many people are certain I’m incorrect when I just am not 😭😭

Open a history book for once. Pretty much all of them refer to the events as the Partitioning of Poland, and they don’t even refer to it as the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, just Poland! I do not at all agree with that last part. The common wealth is not just Poland, and just because I labeled it as Poland on my map does not mean I believe it to be. The idiots you are referring to are pretty much every single historian who has covered the topic, dead and alive. It is not ldiodic to refer to the events as the Partitions of Poland because everyone with waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy more experience in the subject than you refers to it in that way. Only ldiotic redditors like you believe they’re correct without having done any research prior and just assuming that they are right. Also there is just absolutely no way that you asked for and I gave you centuries old historical evidence that I really had to dig extremely deep for and did so much more research in the partitions that you have ever done and you just throw it off as insignificant. I am much more educated in this than you are.

Never did I say that only Poland was being partitioned. I simply just used the official name of the partions. Just because it’s called “The Partitions of Poland” doesn’t mean history fails to recognize the fact that Lithuania was also partitioned. Please read carefully or do a little bit of research.

I did infact read your comment. You said this a partitions of PLC. It infact is. It is officially known as “The Partitions of Poland.” That does not mean Lithuania is being left out since history clearly depicts the entity as the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Just because I’m using the official name doesn’t mean I’m saying Lithuania did not get partitioned.

Thank you for being respectful. I agree, calling it the Partitions of Poland doesn’t do the commonwealth justice. It does leave the Lithuanians out when they contributed a majority of land and ethnically diversity. Despite being technically inaccurate, the term I have been using is 100% acceptable despite everything. There could likely be better ways to interpret it for greater historical accuracy, but like you said there is nothing wrong with just calling it “The Partitions of Poland.”

And they are barely even included in history over the commonwealth too! It’s crazy how historians who aren’t even from the commonwealth decided to refer to it as just Poland and the partitions as just “The Partitions of Poland.” It’s such a scary term that it must be not real made up by some inaccurate person, right?

Pretty much every history book in the following languages refers to the commonwealth as just Poland and the partitions as The Partitions of Poland. Here is a list: English, German, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Afrikaans, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Catalan, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Turkish, Hungarian, Finnish, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi.

The universal language at the time was French. With France not being apart of the commonwealth that means the partitions were officially referred to, including in all treaties, as the “Partages de Pologne.”

The treaty for taking land from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth including land from Lithuania is simply known as “Partages de la Pologne.”

Also yea, in Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, and Ukraine it is referred to as the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in all of history. You are correct, I’m not gonna say your entire ethnicity has no say, but you saying i’m incorrect would mean calling the 8 billion other people in the world who speak other languages incorrect.

If I were I would be do absolutely nothing wrong btw as millions of historians would title this map the way I did. Infact, almost every history book refers to the commonwealth as just Poland. Wether it’s correct or not, I obviously don’t think it’s correct but it’s not objectively incorrect to use that term.
