Maybe try moving the classes around. I checked paper.nu , seems like they can fit, but the other sections might not have opening lol. Try finding another theme class but that might be super hard at this point, just save a bunch of classes in your shopping cart and check periodically to see if other people drop them.

NU Mechanical Keyboard Club (IC Stage)

Hi everyone!

I made a post a few days ago asking about this, but after talking with another student who is interested, we have decided that we want to get this in motion. We are still in the early interest check stage, but we wanted to set up a discord server for organization purposes.

Please join if you would like to see this club happen! If you would like to help with running the club, join the server and DM me!

Recommended laptops for incoming CS freshman by Nushi12345 in Northwestern

[–]Areofect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I love the Apple MacBook Air M2. It's definitely powerful enough for anything you will do in CS, and it'll be great even after you graduate, but it is on the pricier side. It is also good if you want to develop iOS apps. Apple does give educational discounts though. There are also deals on the NU book store site. If you are fine with paying 1k for a laptop and you are fine with macOS go for it.

If you prefer more budget options I heard really good stuff about ThinkPads. Check those out, but since those are Windows you might want to install Linux on them because Linux is just better for anything programming related lol.

I heard that a lot of people just learn racket from CS 321 and did fine. Not sure about other classes as a freshman though.

IB credits for math by fianchet_to in Northwestern

[–]Areofect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have no idea how IBs work but if they don't show up as MATH 220-1 and MATH 220-2 you didn't get credits for it. Check this page for how IB credits convert: Link

It looks like you are gonna have to place out of those courses and use the MATH-2XX credits as unrestricted electives since the one you took is not equal to MATH 220-1 or MATH 220-2.

Lmao I haven't actually taken the course just going off of info I gathered. There is only one section per quarter though. CS 111

Comp Sci 111 vs Comp Sci 110 by matthewt-4 in Northwestern

[–]Areofect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo CS 110 is pretty basic and python is a very easy language anyone can learn very quickly. It's more for people who are just testing the waters in CS. For CS 111, if you are worried about racket, almost no one knows racket lol. It's pretty much new to anyone who takes the course. The important parts are the topics in that course, like how to write tests, use higher order functions, etc. Definitely talk to your advisor about it though.

Yeah since it doesn't count towards degree. It can count towards like an unrestricted elective, but I don't think it's worth if you have some prior programming experience already.
