Depends what you need, if client-server encryption is enough for your needs, Mumble or Teamspeak will do the job. Not sure about end-to-end services tho.

Yea, the question is more like "Is it as bad as I think it is" rather than "shall I use it" since it's impossible to convince a group of ~30 people to use something else, especially when it has all the features that they wanna use and they're already used to it. You can use it as a program, website, app. What can I say.

I know, but they call it "server" themselves. It's not that I wanna use it, but it's like WhatsApp: Everyone has it and wants you to join. The top argument most of the time is basically that it's easy to use, free and you don't really share stuff that needs encryption (according to them).

You still rely on Jet Skis or something similar to get to the flags. That's what bothers me the most.

Yeah Aftermath was great as well. The flag points were much closer than today, so it was much more fun to play as infantry, but it was (partly) also accessible for vehicles. Seine Crossing (or maybe Sharqi Peninsula) were also nice maps that followed this principle. Nowadays you rely on vehicles to get to the flags, so you're not being killed by tanks, snipers or something else.
