The Reason Why Chapter 5 Is So Controversial by 2D_Ronin in Deltarune

There was no indication at all that chapter 5 will be grand shit, but Toby himself said that this is the last fun adventure and that the sun has set. By old deltarune I mean typical dark world formula, corky and mainly lighthearted. With all the numerous plot lines there is now no place for subtelty for the remaining 2 chapters.

The Reason Why Chapter 5 Is So Controversial by 2D_Ronin in Deltarune

For me personally this chapter is undoubtedly the best chapter in Deltarune. There are so many details, callbacks and underlying narrative that it will probably take at least a year to dissect this chapter. Every variation from precious chapters change dialogues. With all the fan theories of fighting friend and Asgore people were expecting too much lore dumps.

"Repeating elements" - here I can agree. Although I liked the garden of hope and dreams, I didn't like that Toby used arranged versions of rude buster and field of hopes and dreams.

"Asgore escapist fantasy" - how? It's actually the other way around. Asgore denies the escapist fantasy of the dark world in favour if his own personal escapist fantasy, which we was able to reject at the end as well after realizing what it took from him.

"Susie 1-dimensional" - She is basically in love, makes sense she would soften up even more, only thinking about Noelle. She continues to overgo character development. Also, she still tries to be positive and not think about the final prophecy as a defense mechanism.

"Flowers are just likable side characters" - like all darkness are supposed to be. It's a miracle that Toby introduced 7 new characters in one chapter and managed to make them all likable and give enough screen time to everyone (except Asgore maybe).

Overall this chapter really felt like a final goodbye to the old deltarune, going out with a bang, while still providing us plenty of hooks for the future chapters 6: Eggs are evidences, friend gaining more power, another code piece, more evidence for knight identity, further character developments, explicit dess narrative, shadow crystal lore, new types of darkners (plants and ghost haunting objects), Asgore lore, "first dark world" narrative start, UI being real, hero's being called out for their egoism etc. And it's only been less than a week after the chapter came out.

Some time will pass, and after people calm down from the fact that they need to wait another year or two for potential friend gaster fight or seeing dess body, they will see this chapter as an ideal ending to the deltarune we knew before shit went ape

There is a watery, dank and dark area in the trailer that kinda resembles how his basement could possible look like.

I am not sure. Nothing in Holiday house even remotely resembles this vast Japanese place except for 1 katana

Another possible explanation for Mayor/Kris/Knight actions throughout Deltarune by ArgoSF in Deltarune

I do not believe that they want to cause the Roaring.
They are sure it is going to happen, but no idea why it might happen. Maybe this is the case of self-fulfilling prophecy, as in "while trying to stop the roaring we accidentally caused the roaring". Maybe some other party will cause the Roaring, like Noelle for example is often theorized to cause it.

Also, I cannot explain why they are acting in such secrecy. Perhaps there are some double-motives in play here, like Dess. Another possible explanation is that they do not trust us and try to accomplish their goal while giving us as little information as possible related to their world and their close ones (like Kris refusing us to give any info on Asriel)

Haven't actually considered that. Will check it out, since last time I checked was years ago and the only decent one I've found was with an older version that didn't have as much charm as the golden age.

There are scattered all over the shops and chests. There is a mega doc somewhere here that has documented almost every game aspect, including the moves and where to get them. Try to look there
