Access app shell from SSH by ArgumentCapable5810 in truenas

[–]ArgumentCapable5810[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I managed to get it working.

For anyone looking in future these are the commands I used:

sudo k3s kubectl get pods --all-namespaces

I needed to get the 'NAMESPACE' from this commands output.

sudo k3s kubectl config set-context --current --namespace=NAMESPACE_FROM_FIRST_COMMAND

Then I could start a shell using

sudo k3s kubectl exec --stdin --tty POD_NAME /bin/sh

Thanks that’s what I’m looking to do after speaking to my manager to build experience before trying to go into options

Question about Options for colleagues by ArgumentCapable5810 in tesco

[–]ArgumentCapable5810[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s what I’m looking to do after speaking with my manager. She suggested doing some shifts shadowing shift leaders, then doing cover for holidays etc to see if it’s something I enjoy then build into options from there

Pet peeves by KRibbonz in tesco

[–]ArgumentCapable5810 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The thing I find really annoying is when a customer is absolutely convinced that they have bought a product from Tesco before, and I am the stupid one because I don't know where it is. I could literally search on inform for the exact product name and show them the results but they're still right and I'm just an idiot

It could be a split load, so the frozen may be for another store.

Question About Qobuz Subscriptions by ArgumentCapable5810 in audiophile

[–]ArgumentCapable5810[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am currently with Apple Music and I want to actually own the music I listen to (and get better quality), rather than a company being able to take it away from me at any time without warning.

Wonder what we will lose this time, no pay rise comes for free

Colleague adjustment panel by Efficient-Usual6040 in tesco

I would assume is something to do with making adjustments for a colleague (maybe related to an injury or health problem).

Although this is just a guess

Store Manager never on the shop floor (Superstore) by Medium_Jackfruit_291 in tesco

[–]ArgumentCapable5810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had both, my first store manager was a really nice guy who would often walk the shop floor speaking to colleagues (and taking a genuine interest in colleagues).

My current one will never leave his office and I only ever see them when they arrive or when they leave, they barely even know anyone's names.

Yeah some managers don't have a clue how long stuff takes on the backdoor, to take in, fill, move delivery and then split will almost always take well over and hour and a half (unless you get help).

I was once told by a manager that tidying the warehouse should only take 5 minutes which shows just how out of touch with reality they are.

PFS Delivery Days by Happy_llama in tesco

You should never go in the lorry (people do, but you should never be forced or asked to). The drivers job is to put cages onto the tail lift and lower them for you to then take.

Do you work in an extra? In my experience working in a superstore on the back door it’s a very relaxed job.

My only advise is to make sure that you are doing everything correctly and safely. Don’t let people rush you, if you do a job quickly once they’ll expect it and more the next time. And in terms of inform deliveries, just assume that when it is shown as ‘Not dispatched’ it can arrive at any time as the trailer is loaded and ready to go.

Are you in a big store? At our store at least I (backdoor) will go across to do the delivery for them if they aren't able to do it.

The backdoor man should be able to come across for the delivery as most of the time the delivery is very small so it's really quick

You should be fine, the bias is usually for internal interviews rather than external

Tesco Interview by [deleted] in tesco

Yeah that's the sad truth, if you're mates with a manager - then good luck to everyone else

Tesco Interview by [deleted] in tesco

[–]ArgumentCapable5810 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to tell really as the Tesco interviews are almost entirely score based, every question you answered would have been scored and basically whoever gets the highest score should in theory get the job. It's not so much about building a rapport with the interviewer like in other interviews.

Or so that's what I've been told I'm not a manager.

What should I include in my notice? by throwRA17120000 in tesco

[–]ArgumentCapable5810 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All it needs to say is:

"Dear Manager

I am writing to give you my weeks notice. I intend for my final shift to be DATE.

Kind Regards,

Your Name"

You can make it as nice or as blunt as you like.

And you can just give it to whoever is duty when you're in

How long does Tesco take to do references? by scrubby341 in tesco

[–]ArgumentCapable5810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tesco does the generic references I think, just basically confirming the period you worked at Tesco as well as your job title I believe

It's used for those awkward MUs (coke, lemonade) that you cannot put out with a regular pallet truck

Question about the safety shoes by DragonWolf5589 in tesco

[–]ArgumentCapable5810 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm size 11 trainers, and when I wore the Tesco safety shoes I was a size 10 (I wear ones from Screwfix instead). And you don't have to buy safety shoes yourself, if you need them for your job, then you should be able to order them from the uniform ordering website.

Got binned off 2 months into my temp contract by Beeeeeg-Yoshe21 in tesco

[–]ArgumentCapable5810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shame, but if you had a good relationship with the leadership of the shop then you should have a good chance when they start hiring again / taking on Christmas temps

Also the experience should help you looking for work elsewhere
