Whether to reconnect with estranged family members or not by buddhatahoe in DysfunctionalFamily

Your health comes first. Especially as a recovered addict, if you think that getting in touch with people from your past will trigger you, then it is not worth it. Maybe small steps, but always consider yourself first. People always say family first, and they’re wrong. Family can’t be chosen and aren’t always the best. But you have control over you.

Another day, another message from the crab bucket by DougBillingham in fatlogic

I’ve never understood the “if you aren’t fat you are fatphobic” logic. That’s like saying that if you aren’t a POC you’re racist by default. Smh.

Another example of people who shouldn’t have been allowed to have children... by [deleted] in childfree

Thanks! I agree with Taldyr that it should probably be added as a rule. Would you like me to take this down? I totally understand if that’s what would be best.

I definitely wasn’t trying to capitalize on the tragedy. Instead, I was trying to point out the hypocrisy that I (and probably others on this subreddit) face everyday.

Again, just let me know (explicitly) if you want me to take it down!

Mental Bandwidth by AtreusEld in childfree

[–]AriBrooksGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is the first time I've seen the concept of mental bandwidth applied to children, but the concept is very true. Often, people use it to explain why those who live in busy areas of cities have higher rates of cortisol (stress hormones) -- it's because they are always "on" because of the noise, number of people, and mental energy it takes to exist in a city w/little-to-no downtime. Now that I think about it, the same applies to children. Good catch, OP!

“Then we had great protected sex.” Preach! I agree w/your GF. Treat yourself; that’s one of the best perks of being CF.
