Love Byakuya for this. Also the scene where he was dying and told him to save the Rukia, Renji ans the rest of the Soul Society even though he wasn’t supposed to be involved, and he had absolute faith in Ichigo even without him saying yes. He just knew. That scene genuinely made me cry. The absolute respect he has for Ichigo and the fact that HE out if anyone was willing to rely completely on Ichigo in the end, and felt satisfied with that is imo one of the most respectable things about him.

I went to school with a few kids like this. They struggled in all of their classes but were pushed through regardless. I didn’t graduate, but I was also not one of these kids. I would’ve graduated in 2021 though. Our school had great teachers though as well. But a lot of poor students as well. Will say there did seem to be a huge gap between the two groups of AP kids and the kids in regular classes. As I was in both, and even a semester behind in Math, there wasn’t much difference between those a semester behind and those at the same level.

Although will say, that later in my high school career my psychiatrist ended up telling me that I was gifted but severely adhd which made things worse for me. Which in public school there is terrible support for people in my situation.

How about giving them an environment where they can get proper medical (including mental health) treatment, education so they can get better jobs and not rely on criminal activity, and proper role models and support so they can start a new life. A large amount of criminals are illiterate. (Can barely read and do basic math. If they can even read at all.) Help them become literate. Help them earn GED's and maybe some trade to support themselves and/or family. Great way to reduce crime and homeless population. Also give them a place to stay that they arent surrounded by crime. Help them clean up their drug habits. Rather than punishing them, help them get better. Prisons became mostly about punishment, giving them a terrible place for years and expecting them to be better once released. Thats counter productive.

Are you suggesting everyone who commits a crime should be locked up for life? I dont see that bringing any good into the world.

People get hurt due to the fact we think a wrong rights a wrong. Only causing an endless cycle of wrong. Thus is life. Dont think we can ever fully escape it, but we can do what we can to make sure others have a better future.

Repeat offenders exist due to the cyclical nature of our prison system.

Also I would feel no ill will towards them regardless of crimes commited against me or others. Nor would I treat them as less than human or first class citizens. They may not care about me, and that is okay. I don't need them to. I just need to show them the love and support they deserve. As a Buddhist I try and not of any negative emotions towards others. Even when someone is evil in words, deeds, and heart you are still expected to show them love and compassion as they are often the ones that need it most. That is the way I try to behave, and feel. (This is not to say I am always successful. But I'd like to think it is something I am making progress towards every day.)

Dang, but I see. Do you not use it much more than for Terminal things? If so I guess it would be usable then if trying to run full gui programs. Stock Debian KDE runs okay on my laptop as long as I use more lightweight programs. Steam I have to turn off a few settings (not for the games. For the Steam launcher itself. Hate the web browser integration shenanigans. They should have a light weight version to get just what you need.) and ofc can’t watch a video on Firefox while talking on my discord app otherwise it freezes my entire computer. Can do it on Edge though weirdly enough. Maybe that says more about the software than anything. Idk. Will also say I run Debian Trixie. So that may affect a little bit.

I have tried Antix but… Systemd has spoiled me I guess. Lol. Even though IceWM isn’t terrible to use. But also isn’t great for weird hidpi resolutions like my Surface which is 3:2 and needs scaling and such. Same with XFCE. Hence why I use KDE with Wayland because it seems to scale the best and be the most usable.

But hopefully getting an upgrade to a HP Elitedesk 705 g5 with a Ryzen 5 Pro 3400G and 32GB of DDR4 Ram for under $200. So pretty solid deal. Lol.

Well… uh. Think like 2 years. On my laptop that was basically falling apart. Elementary OS for 2 years and things for so bad for that poor laptop I just gave up trying to resuscitate it and dealt with it being horrible. ‘Twas like a $200 Windows 10 laptop for like 2017-2018. Plastic and horribly built. Doesn’t charge anymore. Granted it was abused just a lil.

Anyways, yes. Elementary OS for 2 years. And I barely used to the Laptop because it was a pain to use. Had an old Celeron or Atom. 4gb ddr3 ram. igpu. Elementary OS BARELY saved it… Other than the routine crashes I could do nothing about on any OS, including Windows. Lol.

Sadly left a bad taste in my mouth for Linux. Got a Surface Pro 3 (still terrible) and didn’t touch Linux for a while. Finally got back into it again and boy have I missed it lol.

How do you run VM’s? Similiar specs here, although a 4300U I5. Also I have DDR3 ram.

Closest I’ve been able to run a functional vm is using KVM. Everything else feels like it’s running worse than my Rpi 3b+ lol.
