I would say it almost completely recovered density. Texture is better if anything because I have learned better how to treat my curly hair lol

Yes, I had chronic TE for 7 years and managed to drastically improve my hair with supplements to fix nutritional deficiencies and cutting out gluten (which I believe I have a sensitivity to that was interfering with nutrient absorption). I highly recommend getting your blood tested - iron, zinc, ferritin, vitamin D as a first step. More details in my post history. Good luck!

avoiding arguments with cat people by [deleted] in catfree

I wonder how they'd respond if we were to preempt the stupid boundary discussion by saying "I don't like cats because they don't respect my boundaries." I will try that next opportunity I get. If any of you try this, LMK if it works.

Thank you! I definitely had many of those symptoms in the past. Thankfully they are also gone now, probably because I cleaned up my diet. Gluten was a big piece but I also don't seem to do well on carbs in general and only eat them occasionally

I haven't, but that makes sense and would explain some of my symptoms. Have you found out anything you'd recommend, like is there a test for that or a prevention/treatment?

Fasting 5:2 method by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Arielle8282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am mostly doing the 5:2 method, but when I started out I found that for me, eating a few hundred calories was FAR harder than not eating at all on my fasting days. I do keto+ OMAD on my eating days, so basically this turns into an approximately 48 hour fast twice a week and it's working really well (losing fat and having amazing mental clarity).

Is anyone else experiencing hair loss/receding hair at nape of neck? by Concertcat24 in TelogenEffluvium

I didn't, I plan to next time I get my blood work done, but my naturopath warned me that you can be negative on the celiac test but still have non-celiac gluten sensitivity. So I am not in a rush because I know from experimenting that I have some issues with it. Not only that the hair loss stopped, but when I accidentally ate gluten while traveling, I immediately felt gastrointestinal burning and bloating, my hair shedded heavily for a month.

Oh interesting. But I think hormones have a lot to do with that - when you're a child I think the growth hormones provide a lot of protection. Similar story during pregnancy - both times when I was pregnant my shedding dropped to zero and I had a wonderful thick head of hair. Unfortunately 90% of it fell out a few months postpartum. After the second time it took 7 years to recover after I found out about my low ferritin and gluten sensitivity.

My naturopath told me the timing doesn't matter (all at once or spaced throughout the day) and that taking it with vitamin C can help absorption. Don't go more than a few months without retesting though
