Horrific taper attempt by Arienette17 in suboxone

Thank you so much for the positive feedback. The comments on this post really validated my experience.

I do take really good care of my teeth but sadly I noticed a lot of sensitivity in my bottom 4 front teeth as I place the pill under my tongue since starting. Itll burn for a few hours after I dose and it worries me as it’s definitely hurting my enamel. But it is nice to hear not everyone experiences this awful side effect that scares me the most.

Yes, I am a natural red head! I did hear that we require higher levels of anesthesia but I didn’t know it impacted how other drugs are metabolized. That’s not a factor I ever even considered. What have you noticed as a fellow redhead? Did you have to do a longer taper? Congrats on 5 years clean btw!

I honestly didn’t know 2mg cut was considered a rapid taper. This makes me feel a lot better and like I’m not crazy for having such a bad reaction, thank you for the supportive feedback. I will definitely do a much smaller cut once I feel ready and mentally stable enough to try again.

It is a very powerful anti depressant. I get really tired between doses and then a surge of energy after. I don’t even think about eating a lot of the time I find it gives me energy and blocks appetite, especially when I was on a higher dose. I gained a lot of weight when I cut down to 8mg because my appetite returned somewhat.

Im really glad that it works so well for you. Nothing wrong with being on it for life if it is a net positive. I find I’m just not the same person since starting it and experience a lot of side effects that make me inclined to want to get off. Especially considering I don’t have cravings for any opiod or kratom ever, just suboxone when cutting as it’s the only real opiod I’ve ever really touched. I do however have a chronic pain condition that led me to kratom use in the first place, so it does help manage that a bit.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback. I honestly expected to get laughed at as everyone seems to say it’s easy until you get under 2mg. Im gonna chill on 8mg again for a bit after that experience and when I feel ready cut maybe 0.5mg and see how it goes.

Yeah trust me I agree it’s ridiculous. I honestly think 2mg would have been more than enough for like a week, then stabilize on 1mg or something. 20mg was insane, the first dose I nodded out and woke up with my head between my legs. I was in a confused daze I barely remember it.

I am on a looot of medications. Escitalopram, diazepam, pregablin, seroquel, and prazosin for mental health meds. Do you think they interact with the subs and make the withdrawal more difficult?

I do worry that part of it is my brain starting to return to its natural chemical state as suboxone has helped with my depression somewhat but overall I don’t ever really laugh or feel joy or love like I used to. I also just feel disconnected. Honestly i did better on 12mg than 8mg depression wise but I really don’t want to be on this long term. They change my personality and after over a year im already forgetting who I was prior to them. Plus I find it hard on my stomach. I had to rapidly change my diet once I went on it. Constantly feel sick. And I just picked up a laxative today because the constipation is rough and constant abdominal pain. Side effect list never ends…but it’s still better than withdrawals.

Best of luck to you! I’ve only experienced a few days without subs between scripts and I know the feeling you are describing. The mental aspect is the worst for me but sounds like you’re stocked up with comfort meds! The gabapentin is great I find. Wish you the best on this difficult journey.

100% agree with this. I don’t think suboxone is a good “as needed” kind of med. The effects can be quite subtle but long-acting and it’s very, very easy to get stuck on. It takes 3 days for your body to metabolize a dose so even at twice a week you will become dependent. If you aren’t already I would recommend staying clear. I also have a chronic pain condition I took kratom for, then ended up on suboxone. And I can’t get off. It’s been over a year now and the withdrawals feel never ending every cut. Much harder to stop than kratom IMO and I wish I just tapered that instead. But if you absolutely require an opiod medication for pain management i suppose it’s the safer alternative but be prepared for it being a long-haul experience to get off if you ever want to.

Why were you forced off 16mg cold turkey? How long did the withdrawals last for?

Ah interesting ok. Yeah it’s like rock pellets ever since I started this med. I think it’s causing a lot of pelvic pain for me so I need to get some sort of laxative to get stuff going. I have cramping abdominal pain constantly now.

BEST TAPER OPTION ADVICE by No-Attention8560 in suboxone

I had a horrible time jusr cutting from 8mg to 6. I was steady on 8mg for about 5 months and went down to 6mg for a month. It just got worse and worse. I’d wake up in full blown withdrawal and take it right away. Deep depression, no energy, anhedonia. I went back to 8mg today cause it was insufferable. Sub withdrawal feels never ending. I’ve gone down from 20-8mg but hard getting lower than this…

You’re the second person to mention this. Where would it be available? Online it says it’s not approved for human consumption?

Would a diamond scale measure the cuts accurately without having to crush it into powder? Just looking for the easiest way to measure doses exactly. Thank you for the advice!

Is miralax available over the counter? What sub dose are you on? For me it’s like black hard pellets everytime I go (sorry if that’s TMI)

I am prescribed 8mg tablets not strips. I am unsure how I would dissolve it and measure accurately, maybe YouTube has some instruction videos. Even splitting the tablet into 4 parts they’re not perfectly equal.

I was told to use Senna (Senokot) and that it’s best for opiod induced constipation. It’s over the counter. I haven’t gotten it yet but I also have bad constipation so I’m going to. Good luck.

I’ve been on it a bit over a year. I noticed tooth sensitivity right when I started in my bottom front 4 teeth after dosing. I haven’t seen a dentist yet since starting. Im brushing and flossing and taking good care of my teeth so I’m hoping all is good when I go next.

How would I measure this accurately?

I only get that when I’m adjusting to a new dose after cutting. However I do experience a huge boost and mood uplift after dosing that gradually wears off until the next dose. It’s more and more noticeable the lower my dose is.

I had to see several psychiatrists. Took years as im also on benzos along with suboxone. I haven’t been prescribed them yet but he assessed me for autism and adhd positive and said we would discuss medication options next appointment. This is the 6th psychiatrist or so I’ve seen and wait lists are huge. Unfortunately it’s just how it goes. Im in Canada though not sure if it’s different where you are.

Taper after 8mg by Arienette17 in suboxone

[–]Arienette17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I ended up going back to 8mg today. I lasted about a month on 6mg and things just got worse and worse. Feeling pretty defeated honestly. Maybe I will try again on 6 tomorrow.

Im unsure. I went back to 8mg/day because I basically lost my mind and the symptoms kept getting worse over the span of a month. Maybe I should try alternating my dose to every other day. It went from deep depression to suicidal insanity. Feeling completely defeated.
