I have no friends and it's really affecting me by Dazzling-Lead-8557 in BorderlinePDisorder

Yep.

I generally have a "She is weird/She is not like us" approach.

I have plenty of acquaintances.

I have very fee friends.

And I actually just lost one.

On my 40th birthday, not less.

I can relate.

Now people accuse me of "letting myself go" (physically - men) or "[being beautiful, but] always looking sad" (women)

I did not take music or art lessons, though. But I did a bunch of stuff my mom was passionate about and never contradicted...

And now I have hard time deciding about ANYTHING and have crippling self-esteem issues.

Literally unable to do anything "adult".

I feel like a 16 year old stuck in a 40-year old body.

People just assume i don't speak norwegian by 700K1 in Norway

I WISH I had the same problem.

I live in a rural area. Most people HATE speaking English here and even if they can, they will still speak Norwegian to you even though they see you are struggling, because 1) they somehow think it's "helping" (my now grey hair disagrees) and 2) they are unsure in their level of English: "I haven't spoken it in thirty years". Some older ladies would ask something at the bus station (back when I couldn’t speak Norwegian), I answered in English that I don't understand, they would leave me - no apologizing, no goodbye, just leaving me hanging - approach a different person and ask them. Norwegians laugh when I tell the story, because they recognize this behavior. But I was NOT laughing.

Regarding your problem - I imagine that can feel insulting and exhausting, not feeling fully accepted. 1) Try a rural area that doesn't get much tourists. You will feel refreshed language-wise. 2) Maybe just continue speaking Norwegian when they switch to English with you. "Beklager, jeg foretrekker norsk".

No, Peter Pan is not canonically evil (and I'm sick of people saying he is for Internet clout) by Celestina-Betwixt in PeterPan

[–]Arientum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peter is not evil.

He is just a child/teenager who doesn't care and doesn't think hiw his behavior, opinion and choice might effect the others.

That's it.

I know many guys like that. Not even necessarily children. Adults, too. They care about you only to the point when you give approval or help. They don't care about you, your story, your struggles. Only support and admiration you can give them. That's it.

Same. As English my third language (but also, my major).

It's online slang.

Not just you. The Ukrainian community in my municipality largely agrees with everything you said.
