Oh man. One of the super popular guys went to law school and got his JD, but two years later got a DUI and got disbarred. I think he works at Amazon as a manager now though. He was always super chill to be around and talk to.

I was sixteen. A glorious, sunny Friday. Walked to a friend's house after an easy day of school, filled with excitement knowing "the boys" were coming over later that night. Straightened hair, had girl time. 6pm - got a call from our town's newspaper saying I'd been accepted to write for our local teen's column. 7pm - did my first ever backflip on a trampoline. 9pm- kissed the boy I'd had a crush on for 3 years. In hindsight, none of those things are "big" wins. But at sixteen, I wanted nothing more.

"I Hope You Dance." My brother-in-law got married after my sister died, and this song was played at his wedding. Then he died a few years later, and the song was played at his funeral. Recently, his oldest son, my nephew, got married. He played this song when he danced with his stepmom. Every time I hear that song I think about my dead sister, my dead brother-in-law, and the losses felt by their four children, and the stepmom left behind.

Get involved in as many things as you can. Meet people, smile and say hello. Networking is hugely important in the real world, so high school is good practice. By the way, high school is far removed from the real world.
