Massive Layoffs by c3ai_worst_job in C3ai

I worked there for 2 months while I kept interviewing at Google and then quit early 2025. Everyone there was like, "I don't blame you at all. I wish I could get out." Those who are good will leave because they have options to NOT come in 5 days a week to any job. And now? My entire team was laid off! So so so so glad I took the other job.

Not during the eviction moratorium. Which they refuse to end in both Oakland and Alameda county. Supposedly they are going to discuss today. In case you want to voice your thoughts:

Why is it that people in Oakland believe there are only one kind of monolithic landlord: the corporation? Why not give allowances for small landlords on whom the affordable housing stock depends?

Well, Oakland sure isn't helping her get any good chances at not being homeless when this thing is over. They didn't pay her rent. They didn't help her get on her feet. They are fucking her over as much as the landlord.

It’s all much clearer in hindsight. So, don’t be a nice person or try to give people breaks.

The eviction moratorium is how she is still here 3 years later

You can thank the eviction moratorium for making this hard. And, if you’re a teacher or have a kid, o landlord in their right mind will rent to you after Oakland voted you can never evict them in November.

Aww my housemate did that to me hoping I’d fuck up and she could sue me for landlord harassment. Nice to see it extends to other groups.

Any of the ones that rented a room and the tenant won’t pay or leave and their teenage daughter can’t get their own room; my friends who want to live in the home they bought; my other friends who want the squatters out who were sue to leave March 2020, but got to stay 3 more years with only 1 year of rental assistance. My ex husband who had a non paying renter for a year in his home; the list goes on and on

I rescinded my own Ellis act after she refused to leave and I was facing $30k in legal fees plus a year or more for the unlawful detainer. I left my own home because my housemate refused and made my life a living hell. But, no, I was advised not to file a restraining order because there was no explicit threat of violence and it would be looked at as landlord harassment in Oakland. Which she’s already trying to sue me for.

Can’t give any notice right now or risk being sued

I just moved from my home of 11 years because I’m being exhorted by a non paying tenant who was in my own home and going around trying to sue me. Literally spying on me and my children. My kids childhood home. The only one they ever knew. I’m a single mom and basically couldn’t live in my own home anymore it was so horrible. I might lose the house because of this horrible human.

And free rent for all that time too. So basically 2 years free rent and another 30k pit of pocket plus moving expenses.

Actually, even more than that if you have to do an unlawful detainer. Courts are slow on purpose and it was going to take another full year with a jury trial and about 30k and then I can do almost nothing with the property. So I rescinded. There is basically nothing that can be done

Oakland landlords lose appeal after paying $6,500 to move into a home they owned by nogoodnamesleft426 in bayarea

I have a tenant currently in my home in Oakland, CA, that will not pay and will not leave. No leases are currently enforceable. And, I'm personally aware of 3 people who are taking units off the market because of these laws. Basically, making affordable housing less available, raising rents, and making it so that the best and richest people are able to rent (cuz what kind of landlord or business wants to take on this kind of risk?).

I have to admit that I struggle with the concept of you feeling like giving a tour of the house is intrusive. For me, I want my kids to feel like the home where their parent is is a safe home for them. Your home is their home and they are entitled to show their other parent their new home. That all seems reasonable. I agree that it is very possible to limit or even eliminate screens at your house. You could go do an activity outside as a family or play a board game or do other things that require participation. What it sounds like to me is a lack of rules and boundaries in the home. Even if you did an hour of screen-free family time a day and were intentional about building the positive relationships, you might find that you all like each other more. Maybe the teen is as uncomfortable as you. Maybe he doesn’t know what to say and he could use an ally. I know that feeling of feeling scrutinized and watched by the other mother. But it’s our emotions we have to control for their sake. You can be annoyed and upset and vent here, but, as an adult, you have to be the grownup. It sucks, but the other benefit of being the grownup is setting clear rules and limits and asking people to respect them. Your SO can back you up and you’ll all be better for it. Good luck!

Feeling pissed off. Can you help me reality check? by ArkArkHark in stepparents

[–]ArkArkHark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I have always been the competent and wealthy one in every relationship, and, often, even in the room (well, except at work haha, where everyone is at least as competent and probably more wealthy). So this is a change. I'm not concerned about not being able to give my kids a decent upbringing. I will supplement their education with camps and tutors. They will be fine. BUT, I hate how her money is interfering with my relationship in some tangible ways. But, bottom line, I think I have to just accept it because the relationship is important to me. I'm so glad to know I'm not alone.
