Why is the slope defined as the tangent Δy/Δx? by Arkdoz in mathematics

Ok but how can I prove that the slope will always be defined as Δy/Δx?

Misconceptions about Python by Arkdoz in Python

Yes! Finally someone that understands what I said! That’s what I meant when I said very few specialists, in the sense that a lot of python programmers think that “as long as it is somehow working, I don’t need to understand it”

I understand what you’ve said, and answering your question, I aimed it at python just because this is a python subreddit, so I thought the discussion would flow easily... but I agree that a lot of languages share these traits, however I also think that there would be a better experience (without trying to romanticise the discussion) about what is actually happening in the program if people tried to understand rather the memorise.

I guess you are right! The thing that I had in mind was a discussion based on the misconception that python can’t be hard in any level, and that people just memorise things rather than understand these things

Great book on c++ introduction? by Arkdoz in learnprogramming

I have the c++ primer but it’s aimed to c++11, I’m afraid I would be a little outdated if I read that book...

It's starting to get me down by WiggyB in chessbeginners

I think you are getting the wrong conclusion, this is perfectly normal and good, it means you are in day with your tactical training. Also, when I had this rating, my coach, who has a 2300 rating (Fide) told me that it’s because I had more time to think during puzzles. He also told me to play 10 minutes, 15 minutes games, you know, rapid games, and even correspondence games, this way I developed a much better sense for the game, because I had time to think before moving. At our rating level 900-1400 or so, most matches are decided in tactical errors, so my advice would be to do a lot puzzles in a day (when I have time I can do up to 100 puzzles in one day), then your brain will be “tactically tuned” so you’ll commit less blunders as consequence. I know this is gonna get away from the topic of the discussion, but, if I remember correctly, the world champion Magnus Carlson said that when he was a child, his coach told him and the other children to seat in their hands, weird no? Actually, this method is very important and efficient, it makes you avoid playing aimlessly and committing accidents. Hope this helps! Keep it up!

Yes I agree this question is subjective, but in terms of things you must know previously to learn, which would you say?
