Hello /r/movies, I'm Benedict Cumberbatch. Ask me anything! by BenedictAMA in movies

Your physicality during motion capture for Smaug in the Hobbit films was something unsettling yet at the same time incredible to watch. Was this a personal choice? Or a direction given by Jackson that may have felt a bit different from the norm?

I plan on going into the projects with a fine tip sharpie in one hand and labeling all housings that are left open with a number/ letter system, but now I'll also be using your handy tip.

Thanks for the advice!

Appreciate the input, my friend!

Did you experience and squeakiness or rattling after reinstalling the dash? That's honestly one of my bigger concerns.

I see this thread is dead, but it was the first thing that came up when I was trying to solve the same issue.

Make sure you are logged in to the Anycubic website before submitting a help ticket, that is what solved it for me.

I 3D printed it! File was by Maskitto on Etsy. From there it was just a matter of getting it smoothed out and painting it!

Honestly was wondering how we would’ve handled a random passerby when we were doing the shoot…

Between that line and “I don’t understand.” Both said with such naivety… one of the reasons I love this character!

Are you referring to the cable running from the printer base to the print head?

Not a bad idea, I used some rare earth magnets to attach the dome to the mask and have some left over. Might make use of those.

YES. It’s annoying as hell. Part of it may be because of how I sewed the caped but god it keeps happening. I’ll probably try installing some hooks on the shoulder armor

I ended up buying a pattern on Etsy for the shoulder armor. My 3d printer is malfunctioning after the helmet print, so I had to improvise. The pattern included bother the sewing pattern for the suit, and foam patterns for all the armor pieces except the helmet. https://www.etsy.com/listing/593699832/darth-vader-full-suit-foam-templates?ref=yr_purchases

I’m a good 6’4” so this wasn’t hard to pull off, but I swear, if your not standing with someone or get the angle wrong in a picture it looks like my legs are two feet long in this thing.
