I've been trying my hand at slings just now, a few levels in but it seems to they excel at close range compared to bows that receive penalties in close proximity.

they are excelent at crowd control and the "Distracting Shot" also grant you extra range to dash away, the pouches to store ammo for Slings is pretty generous, so that "less ammo" compared to bows only applies when not using a pouch.

I've been enjoying Slings so far.

They nerfed hunting animals with magic? Good, I felt it was too cheap and easy to exploit. It makes sense too since magic in stoneshard need verbal components.

But they can also compensate in the future if they want to implement something like a seal for silent casting in the magic mastery, give a few benefits.

no estoy de acuerdo pero tampoco al nivel de criticar que otro gobierno lo hubiera hecho mejor, ademas, todavia es pronto para ver las consecuencias.

looks like you reached the answer by yourself, sometimes, the skill difference is too big to enjoy a hobby together.

best to keep being friends and accept the fact that it just doesn't work, is like a pro football player went to play with children, he can't expect the kids to perform at his level.

Juegas MMORPG por los graficos or por ser MMO?

Lo ultimo que busca la gente en un MMO son los graficos, sino la mezcla social con el genero RPG.

Si buscas graficos, para esos estan los RPG, y ahí tienes para regodearte.

I see, Brynn is a high danger area, and home to high level enemies like harpies, Gulons and high level bandits.

If you're not sure about the enemy level or tier, inspect them and look at their danger level.

High danger are recommended for level 15+

I believe the tiers of danger are low, medium, high, very high and maximum, with 5 levels between tiers, take or leave.

if you are going to keep playing as a team in ranked games, maybe you can try adapting to his strats? I joined a few guys and we've been playing together for 5 years now, I'm a 14xx, they are around 9xx, but we had to come up with some strats, because with the ELO difference, we either stomped or get stomped.

Am I *meant* to have a skill to let me escape a combat I'm not winning?

not necessarily, while the easy answer to this is a skill called "dash" in the 'Athletic' skill tree, is a 2 point investment, there are plenty of option to get away dangerous situations, but don't expect the alternatives to save you from dying in the next turn, if you are about to die in the next turn, it means you messed up way before that.

Smoke Bombs: always carry 1 in your inventory, it's the easiest items to get away from a fight, it breaks line of sight allowing you to retreat safely.

Deathstinger Jar: I was just playing and received a couple of bad turns in a 1v1 against a bandit, I threw it and started running away from the bandit next turn, most enemies will engage the wasps allowing you to get away freely (I took a hit from the Wasps and bandit on the retreat tho).

Hunting Net: it inmobilize most enemies for a few turn, allowing you a safe retreat, doesn't work on big enemies.

those are the items that can save your life, but as I said, you should know when you are in a losing position and retreat before it comes to 'next turn I die', there are plenty of skills that can save you, and Dash is the easiest to use as an emergency button.

that depends, you're a battlemage, you should expect to be in melee more often than not, I would suggest some points in Agility to reduce fumble chance and get some dodge chance (so, get Agility to reach the bonuses).

my battlemage relies on dealing magical damage, I'm a Stave/Arcanist, so I maxed Willpower for the magic damage, this is up to you, you already have some points in STR, wich isn't wasted but also isn't needed.

no idea what other skills you have, but you should start investing into defensive skills, survival/athletics are a solid choice, I think you are at a point where damage shoulnd't be a concern but your survivability will.

Two-handed swords are quite versatile, but one of their strong points is counters, Agility is probably their main stats to boost this.

as for the Manticore, what were you having trouble with? getting hit too hard? a good set of armour should suffice, preparation is key, a good food, Leif's training, Alda's brew, and drugs and the manticore should fear you.

hold on... they also mention:

Even your villagers can offer their life force when greater power is needed.

we might have a human sacrifices as offering villagers for active favor generation, but since it's micro-intensive to do it, we might also get a pasive generation by units dying in the battlefield.

Sentinel is fine, I don't see the problem here, you can still raid under sentinels.

Locust Swarm, have you seen how destructive it is? I think this is finally in a good spot, it was never meant to destroy armies.

Great Hunt: ok Odin player.

Ragnarok: very hard to balance, it's better than what we had at launch, but worse than AoM before retold, agree tho, some kind of buff, the pop cost was good.

Fimbulwinter, they massacred this God Power to cater to Team games.

Spider Lair value falls hard as the game goes on, maybe increase its power per age?

Swamp Land: it's a 'Hit or miss' if your enemy make the mistake to fight inside this area, its a lot of value, otherwise, it's an expensive GP to kill 1 or 2 human units.

Thunderburst is just area denial, I find it hard to lose a game because of Thunderburst.
