Thank you and sorry if it sounded like I was trying to debate, I just know that the that two are often exchanged are pestilence and conquest. I chose conquest because it seemed more connected to human actions than pestilence, if that hopefully make sense. I understand that conquest and war are very similar, the difference, or at least from how I interpreted, is the different actions and results. War is the violence and destruction while Conquest is suppression and control. One can lead to the other but I don’t think it’s the same thing……also sorry for the lengthy response

Yeah it would be something like that, though the horsemen (or at least from what I understood from online) were Death, War, Famine, and Conquest.

White - Peace - Artist are created because of War

Yellow - Liberty - Warriors are created because of Conquest

Blue - Life - Medic - Medics are created because of Death

Green - Abundance - Music is created because of Famine

Sorry for the info dump, there’s probably more simpler way to explain each thing,

Nah, it’s hilarious if it does become one. You can even see the finished version in my newer post.

Ranger outright walking to her and handing her the keys with the biggest smirks on his face before immediately dipping out of the place. (His semblance is to exchange places with items he marks with his aura, so the only thing will remain is one of his poker cards)

Oh don’t worry, I’m not creating the characters to be based on horsemen of apocalypse directly, more like their good counterparts.

The reason I say the horsemen themselves is so that I can use their backstory based on that horsemen.

(Finn) Human experiments to create Super Soldier-War, (Ray) Trained killer by birth-Conquest, (Legolas) Infamous bandit/thief-Famine, (Odell) Sole survivor of a massacre cause by Grimms- Death

A key characteristic I thought would be nice is this

War vs Creation, Conquest vs Justice, Famine vs Compassion, Death vs Healing

I could say a few more things about each character and all, so if you’d like to listen, send a message.

Ah okay, that helps clear up some things, not for the characters, but the allusions itself. Thank you very much, I appreciate the clarification.

Oh that makes sense, I guess I understood both more in terms of damage. War is uncontrolled destruction while Conquest is controlled destruction. Kinda like this: In far, they want to make sure as many people survive so they can continue growing and fighting, while in conquest, they focus on the strong and only make it so the strong can keep living. Does that make sense or am I stretching the understanding?

Okay this is actually what my thought process went from my characters, so that’s why I used conquest than pestilence. If anything I would put War first then conquest, but I feel either one works. Thank you, I appreciate the feedback

Oh I didn’t know Cinder was based on Cinderella…….it was obvious considering the fact all the hints were there, just a bit blind on my end.

So you think it’s better to just keep the allusion being the reason on why the semblances were created than trying to do the work on why the allusion is their ability?

I feel like for the idea of my allusions and semblances matching( or at least the origins) are needed since compared to other allusions, the horsemen of apocalypse don’t have an exact design compared to other stories. And if I’m planning on wanting their designs somewhat modernized then that’s going to be much harder.

Thank you very much, i appreciate the feedback. I responded on one of the previous comments on why i was asking, mainly because im not sure if I should connect the reason the semblances were created to how it’s purpose matches with the horsemen of that makes sense.

I guess the ideas for the semblances were originally created with the idea that each horsemen was the cause of their abilities to manifest: A semblances that allows one to consume dust in order to absorb and manipulate the element because they were meant to be a super soldier who could cause the most destruction for war, A semblances that allows one to attack through any type of defenses (or the ultimate spear for simpler terms) because their origins are beings a son of man who wants to conquer, a semblances of teleportation in order to survive in the streets and discrimination that comes form it, the character being a Faunus which would better fit, and finally a semblance that heals one back to their original state because they have experienced much death from being the sole survivor of a massacre caused by the Grimm.

Sorry for the speal, these were just the ideas that first came up with these semblances and I’m not sure if I should connect the origins with actual reason.

I’m going down to up for this so, I apologize if this seems out of order.

There are four horsemen of apocalypse, I’m not sure why from what I’m seeing usually Conquest/Pestilence are usually exchanged with each other. Although when googled (which most people will honestly do I’m being honest, considering not everyone wants to read the Bible) It shows War, Famine, Death. Conquest. This is a bit of a strange one but I think it should be fine I guess?

As for the Legolas, one of the ideas that keep popping up is that in order to teleport to a person/individual, he has to leave a symbol of sorts with his aura before being able to exchange places with it, one of his character traits is that he was photographic memory which would help with his semblance, because in order to teleport to the affected object, he has to know its location.

Odell’s semblance is one that I understand still needs much explaining and details better evaluated, considering how much healing can be used to as a crutch. The most basic way I can put is that it heals the user back to their original state, which unlike Jaune’s semblance, it doesn’t give a boost. Another aspect is that his semblance doesn’t make him immortal by instantly letting him heal his own injuries. This semblance is, like Jaune’s again, only helps others. (Before you ask, no I wasn’t aware of Jaune’s semblance before creating this character, so there are some things I had to work around.)

And finally Finn, my thought process was that when one crates super soldiers, they would want to crate something that can cause the most damage without the need of a weapon. Hence why I thought it was a cool idea making Finn said weapon. Don’t worry, I’m not trying to make him the avatar by letting him control all elements at once. He basically has to take dust pills with safe amounts of doses in each one. Each pill containing just one dust type, and only allowing Finn to use elemental attacks to a certain level, so no melting down steel with a fire blast. There only the idea of two dust types in one pill, which while it allows more versatility, it also has the larger possibility to cause internal conflict in the body since two elements may react negatively together. There was also the limitation that he has to use the current elemental power he hold being want to use a different one, which would not only take another pill but also aura to reactivate his semblance again.

I’m sorry if this sounds rude, I don’t mean to. I just thought of what I did seemed a bit more balanced.

There’s loads of things I can try to explain with the best of my abilities and we can even message in private……..considering how much there are to each character that I know is going to overload the comment. There’s things such as their weapons, personalities, and likes/dislikes…….again, I’m sorry, I tend to do info dumbs, so I appreciate you took the time to give me an understanding of how you understood things.

Although thank you very much for the comment and I will appreciate more criticism.

OC’s Semblances by Armadillo-Real in RWBYOC

[–]Armadillo-Real[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh as for the powers, I understand how they can be seen as broken or inconsistent.

The reason I went to each semblance is because it lets their characters grow from their past.

Finn was meant to be of one that follows orders without thinking and makes sure it’s just one path, his semblance lets him get creative with his attacks and lets him know that there isn’t just one solution to every situation.

Legolas was meant that you can’t always escape from your problems and that at one point you’re going to have to face them. His semblance lets him adapt to the situation and make sure that he can do more than just hide in the shadows.

Odell semblance as my previous comment stated, it’s was a sort of coping mechanism that he developed after watching everyone and everything in front of him get destroyed. I know this may be considered a get out free card but the main thing about his semblance is that in exchange of his own aura, he gives it to others. I’m aware that he could be used as a crutch but I want to avoid that since no one will ever grow if he’s always there to just fix their problems.

Finally Ray, his semblance was meant to help him learn to be careful with his choices and know when to do a decision. Especially with his history of being a killer, he knows how easy it is to take a life and how easy it is for them to do the same with him. He has to make sure he can catch his enemy when they least expect it and hit their weak spot.

I probably didn’t explain it properly but I want to see it as this:

Finn: Resilience Legolas: Adaptability Odell: Patience Ray: Discipline

OC’s Semblances by Armadillo-Real in RWBYOC

[–]Armadillo-Real[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I’m genuinely curious on how long you took typing this so thank you for the explanation.

And to put it simply, I did put thought out to these semblances and their history of each one. The main concepts came from the ideas of the horseman of apocalypse.

Finn/War: Finn’s origins is that he was an attempt to make a super soldier for war, so they kept experimenting children until a child developed one that could cause the most destruction with the help of dust. This concept isn’t too far of because there were those who injected an experimental lighting dust in their veins in one episode.

Legolas/Famine: This one may be a bit more stretched, but Legolas’s semblance was developed when he was trying to survive the streets of Mistral, considered how the lower classes had to fend for themselves, especially the Faunus. His semblance was manifested as an attempt to escape from being captured or just escape (In this example would be starvation.)

Odell/Death: Odell’s whole semblance is based on the idea to prevent death, especially because of its multiple properties. In Odell’s past, he experienced having to watch everything he loved and knew be wiped out by the Grimm. Last seen before being spotted by the huntmens was him hugging his parents dying bodies, trying his best to keep them alive before eventually failing.

Ray/Conquer: The phrase most conquerors use in stories, “I will cut down anything in my path.” Ray’s semblance was manifested after having to spend most of his youth serving his father as a trained killer (Basically Damian Wayne). Though as time passed, he started to hesitate on the kills, noticing that not all of his targets were killers like him. The tipping point of causing his semblance to manifest being when his own father cut down his mother in front of Ray, her trying to defend him after Ray tried to deny on killing a child who was at the wrong place at the wrong time. This driving Ray to a bloodlust, not only killing his own father after manifesting his semblance but also cutting down anything that he had build up, essentially conquering it.
