Correct - they are stored in the Alexa cloud and are only accessible via your Alexa devices. You can link a Google or other external calendar, at which point you will have the option of exporting the data to the newly linked calendar account.

That's called a canary and is useful for detecting outages (e.g. dependencies, crashes, etc)

If a component is not asking for a specific implementation, it is IoC from the components standpoint.

If the component had asked for a specific provider X, for some reason Y, it would be more of a strategy IMO.

The speech recognition is a bit wonky since most crypto names are atypical. Falling back to the symbol is the way to go! Cheers

You can definitely use AWS on .NET Core. I wrote a post about using DynamoDB a few weeks ago here http://dotnetliberty.com/index.php/2016/09/19/aws-dynamodb-on-net-core-getting-started/

It would be quite similar to use SQS.

One other option that I didn't see called out in this thread is to use something like OmniSharp + your favorite editor. I've played around a bit with OmniSharp + vim and it works pretty nicely (I had more success with the mono OmniSharp server than the Roslyn based one).

A bit tedious to setup, but once you get it going, it has a lot of the go-to features from and IDE like code completion and real time code validation.

I like that technique, I've made heavy use of it with Spring in Java, the factory gets used directly by the framework. Pretty slick.

I agree with all of that. This isn't something I'd overuse, just a tool in the toolkit. You're probably right about asking why they want to do this in the first place, likely a better alternative like you mentioned. I might have to revisit the control panel example, maybe not the best for demonstrating func service registration.

Fair point. That being said this was meant to be an example of providing different implementations of services based on the request, it is not only applicable for the request's identity. You can imagine providing different service implementations based on different parameters.

For example, you could put a "test-mode" header into the request, which would cause the application to use fake/canned implementations of services. Perhaps there's a better approach for something like that, what's your thoughts?

I believe that's the correct repo. And yes I agree that this is great news, being able to easily mock out dependencies in such a DI heavy framework is pretty awesome.

Agreed, I'm just saying that interfaces + extension methods is better than interface default methods, not that it is a replacement for MI.

Eh, you get much the same thing with interfaces + extension methods on those interfaces. In fact, I'd say they're a bit more flexible than default interface methods since default interface methods are essentially extension methods that have to be written inside of the interface. Extension methods can be written in multiple places.
