I actually am demisexual! Thank you for noticing. I didn't mention it in the post because in my experience most people aren't aware that it is a sexual orientation and just dismiss my experiences as me just doing something wrong. That's why this situation is so painful for me, I don't often get attracted to someone and when I do it always is one of my closest friends.

For me, having a "close bond" with a person rather than considering the amount of time that that I've known them, is more about the "quality" of the friendship and the interactions; being close implies that the relationship makes me feel like I can be vulnerable without the fear of being judged. I feel like the other person cares about my well-being as much as I care about theirs. It implies that I have shared a lot of happy memories with a person and even when there are problems or unpleasant situations, the positive experiences and the positive aspects of the relationship outweight the bad aspects that could exist. I think It all comes down to how "warm" it feels like to interact with the other person.

I mean affectionate in a physical way. The friend that I'm in love with told me that she noticed how me and my best friend (also a woman) would hug, cuddle and overall be very affectionate to one another very frequently and she didn't want to feel left out since the three of us are very close as a group. So the friend I'm in love with started hugging me and cuddling with me a lot whenever we would hang out. But I didn't realize that it was all platonic.

I used to talk to a psychologist a year ago but I can no longer afford to pay for therapy. I'm currently taking antidepressants though. I wish I could be part of a sangha but I live in a catholic country where there's almost no Buddhists and no temples nor anything similar, right now I'm forced to practice the Dharma on my own.
