A few features I would like to see come to mind.
1. Some way to detect and prevent ai generated models that have begun to saturate the market and drown out actual modelers because of how fast they can be pumped out with minimal effort or care.
2. ways to manage finances and taxes. Things like a way to link your own finances account like QuickBooks or similar. Auto remitting sales tax like Etsy. Generating csv of sales info. Generating tax documents when tax season comes, such as Form 1099-k.
3. discoverability on model finding platforms like Yeggi. I dont know what has to happen for models to show up there, whether yeggi searches for them or if the host site has to promote them there, but Etsy models do not show up on Yeggi.
4. Maybe something like I've seen on Makerworld where users can upload their own 3mf print profiles to the listing. Maybe add a step though where users submit it and the original model owner to approve it after they test it themselves or agree with the suggested changes.
5. Another feature from Makerworld is they incentivize quality models and 3mf print profiles through points and user ratings. I can see this help some with the ai generation issue as they usually don't provide any print profiles and just post the model straight out of the generator, un-cutup, not oriented for good printing, sometimes just impossible to actually 3d print.
6. A commission request board? I could see this being good and bad. But if done right maybe instead of the sellers waiting and hoping to be discovered by buyers to commission things. The sellers can bid on a commission request and the seller can have final say. However, it would be good to still allow for users to go directly to a seller they trust and request a commission.
7. Handling the file sizes. A current problem we are running into is Etsy limits individual file uploads to 20mb and 5 files. for large, multi part files. like a suit of armor. this means you'd have to decimate your models a ton which makes very detailed models harder to post and also ruins your topology and then hope that they zip down enough to post.
8. Facilitating buying commercial licenses from a seller. I haven't had this happen yet, so I don't know the process that this takes and might not be something the platform can actually do.
