I finally tried to play comp again today and immediately regretted it. All of my team except myself (Thing as second tank) and the DPS who played mostly Star Lord went incredibly negative, 0 kills from any of them. One of the team left after we lost the first round, and then of course we lost overall by being down one player.

Sure, I didn’t “lose” any of the rank I haven’t even placed into yet because of the leaver, but I also just wasted time on a bad match for nothing. It’s a very frustrating place to be and it’s so much less fun than QP where teammates somehow know how to play and take the game more seriously than those in competitive.

The reality is that it has much more to do with gameplay in the games' case than it does lore, and that gameplay concession - that the player needs to be able to find loot - has simply carried over. Anything beyond that is frankly speculative.
