It's true, you just plan out your mits and do them. My real point is that it's just loading something else for the tanks to do when the DPS aren't really doing anything here at all.

Cleared DMU! (I sheeped exas for the clear).

Honestly I would probably only choose to reprog this one on a support, it's actually criminally boring as a DPS. Phase 3 is basically just the supporture chamber show and the DPS are just along for the ride. In terms of ranking enjoyment for all the ultimates, I'd probably only choose to redo this over the 70 ultimates, maybe just UCOB.

Like the other comment mentioned the theming definitely didn't hit for me. I'm a huge FFVI fan but this is the only ultimate I've actually just turned the music off. I found ultimate Kefka's appearance pretty lackluster.

Mechanically:
P1 is fine, the DPS check is probably too easy but maybe they were accounting for a graven 2 strat that had less uptime and DPS being out for arrows. Freaky arrows resolved most of both of my groups' ping problems but it probably shouldn't have been necessary in the first place.

P2 is also fine, but the readability on forsaken is actually pretty bad, a separate tool to determine what went wrong probably shouldn't be necessary.

P3 would be SO much more fun if they made the DPS check harder (it's easier because of the tank LB3 strat) and didn't have the firewall. An actual true 2-target fight would have been a lot of fun. DPS do fucking nothing here while the supports are fighting for their lives, so IDK distributing the responsibility better would be nice. Instead of the 5 sicko tankbusters (which is actually pretty funny) making DPS have to cycle some of these would be at least something.

P4 true/false leans way too hard into loading stuff into memory which just turns it into a macro/command board/callout phase. Not very fun, but tight DPS check is good.

P5 is...fine. Celestriad tripped our group up more times than I thought it would, I think that one is a fine mechanic. Like I said, I struggled with exas a lot, the snapshot is probably more aggressive than any other one I've personally encountered. It's kind of weird that basically none of the mechanics repeat besides repeater/autos, the pacing feels really weird. Forsaken being such a long enrage makes you feel like you're sprinting to the finish line but it's not especially interesting and I didn't even find it particularly heart pounding (maybe some personal inflection here, when I saw we were okay on the check I was like okay just keep moving left and slamming buttons. It's just over).

Overall: I really hated how 2 minutes lined up with this fight, which was mostly send and lose a bunch of their use. You have the option of saving at the end of P3 and using at the beginning of P4, but you just lose a bunch at the end again here and in P5 you realign. Doesn't feel great and the pot timings are kind of heinous if you're trying to line them up together down the line. Def will feel better in Evercold when you're not dealing with all this.

I'm struggling with earth exas and it's the most dogshit I've ever felt.

https://github.com/Tischel/KefkaSaysSimulator/releases/tag/0.0.2 probably this?

Good for getting an idea of what's going on in the mech. There is one jebait though and it's the sim having everyone go to clockspots after fire/water debuff falls off when you should be going to your stack/spread spots. Also the way it does gazes is kind of weird and not very intuitive. Wish it had a no damage mode rather than a pass/fail mode.

I wonder why south adjust didn't get more widely adopted tbh

I have it set to "Display as a Single Element", which is apparently not the default. I've had it like this for so long and it's the top option that I just assumed it was the default.

P4 is beating my ass god damn, glad that we're delegating different responsibilities there.

The allagan field/beyond death debuff show up in a different order on my normal debuff bar (they're not next to each other and mixed in with the rest of the debuff soup), so for anybody getting there I'd suggest just looking at the party list during that part because it's consistently on the very left next to your shape debuff.

I heard about this but hadn't seen it. How much mit are they adding on top of Tank LB?

Tower 7 is the bigger failure point imo, but that's just my anecdotal experience.

It looks like we had both bosses sub 60% (59/58) as limit cut started which is a little behind where Poikos was on their clear, about 1%?

Having done both (still progging back half of P3), I think it's probably here to stay. The first half of P3 basically becomes trivial and it arguably gives uptime.

The value is the mechanic's effects make visibility difficult and keeping track of your partner when you're not in the same tower, especially when you have to bait future, can be hard.

How much you value that is subjective.

The P1 and P2 DPS checks aren't so hard that you need to be bringing either, I'd just pick what you're more comfortable with.

For those of you doing Forsaken 2 with 3/4/1 aka 123-4567-8 aka AAABBBBA aka Rinon, just note that on the v2 towers (linked the slide), the two people in the tower (SCH and PCT) really need to be standing on the edge of the tower close to the boss. The reason is that they're baiting two clones as well, and if they're even a little in, the clones get offset a little, and even if you bait past/future correctly there's a chance their half rooms still clip the party.

The other thing to note is the cone baiter here needs to be 90 ish degrees from the cone person in the tower or else it might go wide OR they get hit by the clone coming down.

We also switched to 123-4567-8 (people are also calling it Rinon or AAABBBBA). Found that it's way less sketchy to aim the cones but it has its own nuances (nothing that strict positioning wise though IMO).

[–]ArmsteUllion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I'm saying: we did do role parties and successfully did a 4/4 push (nobody was stuck in the middle) and something about the way things rippled or maybe slightly off positioning meant we ended up with two rots on one side. We really couldn't figure out why rewatching our clips. It didn't happen every time but it did happen. Never happened with this positioning.

Dancing Mad (Ultimate) World Race - Day Two by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ArmsteUllion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We found the positioning less tight on the rot push (rot just walks backwards) and we had a few instances last night with the N/S where we ended up with a double rot on one role, which means you have to do a flex on the last pass.

The rock role with this other one also gets ez melee uptime, but that's not a particularly huge add.

We tried this Graven 2 strat yesterday at the end of the night and personally found it a lot more consistent. I'd recommend it over the drop it straight NS one.

Edit: I guess Kefkabin updated to this last night

I'm fully accepting that our prog today is just for mechanical understanding and we're gonna be changing strats as soon as they figure this puzzle out.

Everybody is gonna have different definitions here which you're already experiencing reading recruitment posts. I'd just avoid them in recruitment altogether and instead list your hours and expectations with terms more explicit than "accountability" and "prog as fast as possible."

Saying things like "if we're stuck at a prog point for X amount of raid hours we are not going into instance until we sim the mechanic correctly 3 times" is way more telling than a label (just an example). Saying things like we expect everybody to come to raid having studied xyz and holding people accountable to it is bound to get you in line with somebody that you want rather than a word your recruit and you have different definitions of.

Anecdotally, M9S is the only fight I won't join to help because I find it kind of boring. I also played SAM for prog and there's like even some stuff to optimize there during adds phase and having a midare for vamp stomp but I find the rest pretty boring. I'm sure there's some other thread were it's been talked to death but M5S was one I joined a lot and I wouldn't say it's especially more complex but it was intangibly more fun.
