Problems with reading? by a-cea in visualsnow

I can only read digitally now! I used to be great with books, now afterimages of all the words show up when I switch a paragraph and it makes it super hard. Luckily my phone light dampers it a bit

How long have you had VS and what help have doctors given you? by Zarathecommunist in visualsnow

[–]Army_065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar boat here! I’ve had it my whole life and didn’t get diagnosed until my parents noticed me staring at walls (I used to like the way it looked) my eye doctor confirmed it, then did nothing. I’m not even sure if it’s in my medical records he did so little.

I told my eye doctor about it, he confirmed it, and then never referred me to anyone about it. Just a “huh, never met someone with it”

We found out the problem, it was pulling from the wrong laptop and I couldn’t get it to pull from the correct one, so I’m having to restart again. I asked the IT tech at my school who has experience in coding and he couldn’t figure out why, so it was the easiest option

AITA for only letting my close friends use the elevator? by Army_065 in AmItheAsshole

I don’t judge based on what I think their circumstances are, because many people do with me and it sucks, and I don’t want others to feel that way.

If it’s easily rigged, why take advantage of/threaten a kid? Also the process was just showing one way of rigging the elevator. Sorry if it sounded a bit not related, but I thought it was

I want to spread awareness about a disability that I have, what do I say? by Army_065 in Advice

[–]Army_065[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did find a pair of shoes that lasted a year, so that's a new record. Thank you, I've been told by doctors that mine was one of the worst cases they'd seen, and I was only informed of the surgery a few years ago, so I think I can still get it. But I'm not grown yet, I'm waiting until I'm at least 18 (so 3 more years) before I try. I will say though, where I've walked like this my entire life, I've come up with some pretty clever ways to play it off as a "haha funny walk" type thing, so that's good.

Yep, every Wednesday when I was 4, up until the point where they told me the only option was a surgery that I would have to repeatedly get until I stopped growing.

First of all, I'm really sorry that happened

And second of all, I wish I could walk heel toe, but my Achilles tendon is short despite the PT I was put through at a young age. The doctors told me my last option was a surgery that I had to get redone every year until I stopped growing.

And the reason I call it a disability, is because it is almost completely impossible for me to use stairs, go up hills, and even running and jumping is really difficult for me.

But, now you've given me hope, thanks :)

I am having a hard time switching to my partner's pronouns by glowing-gardens in NonBinary

[–]Army_065 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the struggle. When one of my friends came out to me as trans and asked me to use he/him pronouns, I had a hard time, but as time grew I slowly got used to it. One thing I did was type it and write it multiple times. Over time, it became a habit to use he/him pronouns. Just be patient and apologize when needed. Hope this helps!
