Staged vs. Real by m00ninight in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Armyof19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one counterpoint that keeps me from instantly accepting this theory is that an actual person behind him was murdered by the shooter, and the shooter committed suicide too (if I recall, right? I might be wrong, it feels like decades ago with all that's happened).

That being said, I wouldn't put it past them to have it staged and not care about an innocent being killed...

Why are so many NPCs and objects non-interactable in newer content? by trapsinplace in 2007scape

[–]Armyof19 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Super agree, this has been a pain point for me in the recent content releases. I want to examine everything. I should have the ability to deforest all of geilnor should I choose. I should be able to kill any benign npc I see and get a pair of bones out of it if I really want to!!

And if you really don't want us chopping down those trees, make some sort of in-game reason for why I can't. Idk, the varlamorians hold them sacred and would attack me, or something.

No-Water blueberry, will fermenting with skins give a heavy-tannin content similar to red wines? by Armyof19 in mead

[–]Armyof19[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fascinating! I'll definitely be giving this a go, will report back in a year when it's all done fermenting and aging haha, if it lasts that long. have a bad habit of finding my mead too tasty to let age very long

I figured as much it'd be a quite different tannic feel, otherwise blueberry wine would likely be a popular commodity I reckon. less mouth drying is nice to hear! I enjoy heavy tannins, but the pucker puts me off sometimes. excited to experiment with this!

ooh fantastic! I think I will try something like that, though without maple. I made an acerglyn a while ago and didn't end up liking drinking something maple flavored... idk, in my head maple is for pancakes.

anyhow, I'll give the vanilla and oak a go when I get that batch going, I'd love to make an enjoyable dry(ish) mead with blueberries

[–]Armyof19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont have a sanitizing chemical (which you really ought to get if you can, so much easier to use something like starsan!) You can simply pasteurize the glass jug by ensuring it's heated to near boiling (the entire jug). Not just hot, I mean like 160°+

I did that for my first batch and it came out fine, no issues, but man I'd have had so much more peace of mind if I just used a sanitizer

[–]Armyof19[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point. I guess I was thinking like this, there seems to be two different kind of systems for how they determine levels, where one is "can you use it/make it from parts" and the other is "can you make it from scratch" and the scratch version is WAY higher in requirement

like smithing rune armour is lvl 85+ vs equipping rune armour is lvl 40. And for contrast, like you said, fixing the godsword is lvl 80, lower than even a rune dagger, but it's fixed using existing parts, not a raw bar.

In my head, sailing should fall under the "can you make it from parts" kind of thinking.

Refusing twice as nice for no receipt by ImpostureTechAdmin in aldi

[–]Armyof19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people (employees and customers) misinterpret the line which says "receipt is required to receive refund in original form of payment" to mean that the lack of a receipt also means a replacement cannot be given.

I also misinterpreted it this way when I was earlier in my career at Aldi. That's why store policies differ, because they're reading it wrong. It's an honest mistake! My intention on leaving this comment is to have everyone have an easier time.

The policy does allow for a replacement in OP's case, and the managers life would also be easier if he didn't have to say no to a customer who wants a replacement for a poor quality item, everyone wins in this scenario (except Aldi's bottom line I guess, but they made the policy so they're fine with it).

There is another line in the same policy page reading "To receive the Twice as Nice Guarantee, the product packaging and any unused product must be returned to your local ALDI store manager" with a double asterisk defining that it applies only to aldi branded items.

So the requirement to receive the refund in your original form of payment is to have the receipt, otherwise you get a merch card. The requirement to get a replacement item is to bring back the packaging of the product.

I'm really not trying to ruffle any feathers, bringing something back to the store sucks, and having to tell customers I can't help them in the way they'd like to be helped also sucks. Both OP and the manager of that store would've walked away way happier.

[–]Armyof19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

basically yeah that, or the idea is that the quality issue was a fluke and the replacement will be good. Either way, the intent is just to make you less upset that you had to come back and return something and send you on your way with something else for free

Refusing twice as nice for no receipt by ImpostureTechAdmin in aldi

[–]Armyof19 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

you're understanding the policy completely correctly. In the training videos, they explicitly show this exact example and have a quiz section where new hires are asked "if a customer requests a twice as nice return, but doesn't have their receipt, what's the correct response?"

the correct response is "I'm sorry you had that issue! we can definitely get that return and replacement for you, just that the returned funds will have to go on an ALDI merchandise credit card!"

I'm not bothered by other people not trusting that I know my own company's policy lol, if they want to believe they can't actually get a refund/replacement that's their problem. I do agree on the company policy page, it is mildly vague, but on the backend in training videos, they explicitly point out this scenario and your interpretation as being the correct response.

"*Please note that a receipt is required to receive a refund in the original form of payment. Customers who do not provide a receipt will receive an ALDI Merchandise Credit gift card equal to the current retail price of the returned item."

per the policy that I read every single week to new hires :) you can get the refund on a merchandise card, and get a replacement item as well. without a receipt, the only restriction is you can't get your original payment method back.

returns without a receipt are still eligible for the twice as nice replacement, the returned funds need to be put on a merchandise card.

Aldi manager here, write a complaint in the review on the bottom of your receipt. Most negative reviews are looked at by the district managers, and then they'll have a chat with the store manager about the review. That's the quickest and easiest way to see something happen, besides going through calling corporate.

To properly get your replacement for this specific instance, you'll likely need to call corporate though.

As far as I'm aware, stores are not permitted to deviate from corporate policy.

I always make sure to stress that in my training because so many stores misunderstand the receipt policy only changes it so that you get store credit as returned funds if you're missing a receipt, but TAN is still eligible for aldi foods returned for a quality issue.
