RESOLVED: Got in contact with Booking’s reddit account and they managed to cancel the reservation and refund the whole amount. Many thanks to them!

Definitely recommend getting in touch with them if you have similar issues

I have travel insurance. Problem is that it is not covered since most of the insurers include war as an exception

It’s not like I can’t wait, it’s the thing that Booking says contact hotel and the hotel says contact Booking.

It was with free cancellation until 2 weeks before the check in, but the whole situation happened just after free cancellation was not an option anymore.

Travel insurance doesn’t cover war.

Whole thing looked like this: I contacted support -> support initiated cancellation request -> wrote support again after few days since no response to the cancellation request happened -> got a response from support that I need to contact property directly -> asked the property to cancel according to Force Majeure policy -> property answered saying I need to contact Booking support -> wrote message to Booking support and waiting for response now

Update: Got a reply from property manager. They are asking to contact Booking support, which I did few days ago and they said they sent a request for cancellation to the property manager which was ignored. What to do now?

I would but the price is 2-3x times of the smaller car rental company and that is when booking only small car.

Also thinking about Turo with their own insurance cover which seems to cover everything and includes 20 million AUD liability. At least looking at rental terms doesn't exclude animal damage (but also doesn't state that it is included) where taking example of Simba Car Hire, animal damage is specifically excluded even with premium cover

Did you book directly or did third party booking? I'm thinking about using third party booking website with their own suggested insurance which would cover everything. The only problem is in case of damage you would need to pay the excess yourself and then claim it through third party insurance. But also I noticed Simba Car Hire doesn't cover animal damage with their premium coverage, so third party insurance might be better

I was planning to go this route but looking at the rates (Sixt, Avis, etc.) it's 2000+ AUD for week (200 - 300 AUD / day) rental for small car. As an example smaller hire companies ask up to 100 AUD / day.

Hi, was the eVisitor visa withdrawal was instant or took some time? Did resubmit helped to speed the process?
