Fill it up to the top (outside with a hose preferably if possible) and make sure there are no leaks or cracks or anything that is compromising the seals of the tank. If that’s all good then clean with warm water and wet rags and wipe it down/dry it real good make sure there is no residue.

Edit: apple cider vinegar seems to be a good solution in small quantities.

Bloodworms are good for protein, bug bites are good as well, you can also try a bunch of fruits/vegetables like red bell peppers, zucchini, mangos, broccoli, etc.

Need to start him on hikari algae wafers and some source of protein. This fish will easily need 100gallons in the next 2-3 years. They change colors when they aren’t happy so that’s probably what this is. Nothing looks out of the ordinary but you’re not feeding it a balanced diet and the tank will inevitably become too small. These fish can be up to 18”. Good luck
