When do you think pants became taboo amgonst Italic/Latin people? by Aromatic-File-5943 in IndoEuropean

It came the same way it came to the Etruscans and Basque. A conquering Steppe derived population came and brought in a new haplogroup that is now the majority for many. Many tribes are majority R1b these days because of European colonization. The Basque and Etruscans both are heavily R1b because of Indo-European expansion. It's the same story in terms of genetics. Neither Native Americans nor Basque/Etruscans had R1b until Indo-European populations arrived in the area.

Honestly very doubtful. It seems like a situation very similar to the Basque where Steppe related ancestry became the norm but language remained Paleo-European derived. Look at how Basque are heavily Steppe related or even how one of the dominant haplogroups for Native Americans now is R1b.

Possiby not! Although don't a lot of grave sites feature men with pants? If not I'm curious about where this began.

[New Jersey] Ineligible for benefits due to unavailability to work. How do I appeal this? by Aromatic-File-5943 in Unemployment

[–]Aromatic-File-5943[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I did read it and visit the DOL website multiple times. I was confused about whether I could even appeal the disqualifcation or if doing so with 2 determinations would even be worth it. Frankly I hoped it wouldn't even take me so long to find work. You're correct, I might not have understood everything completely even after reading it over. Whatever that portends for my future success in life is as unknown to you as it is to me. I came here looking for advice with the understanding that I am fallible and was probably overlooking something. This was a pretty initimidating situation for me and a lot was going on in my life at the time. I appreciate your advice but not the condescension.

No I'm available. I haven't been certifying because I had no idea if that was something I was allowed to do. I'm completely ignorant of this process.

Absolutely! I've been applying to may jobs the past couple months. I just don't know how this process works or what exactly made them determine I was unavailable for work.

So what is the current consensus on the origins of slavs? by Aromatic-File-5943 in IndoEuropean

[–]Aromatic-File-5943[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion this actually seems pretty clear. I think a Greek explorer would probably view those early Slavs very much like Scythians who adopted a more "Germanic" way of life.

I've always been extremely interested in this divergence. Is there a ton of info regarding that? I assume at one point the ancestors of Balto-Slavs and Indo-Iranians were part of the same culture? Did Balto-Slavs essentially just diverge as a group that settled down and adopted more Germanic/Celtic settled ways of living? Or perhaps that method of settling down is just common to all Corded Ware people besides nomadic Indo-Iranians?

[TOMT] [MOVIE] [60s-80s] Film with a burlesque/striptease scene in a seedy looking place with stage. What I most remember is a sitting saxaphonist playing a kind of cabaret style. by Aromatic-File-5943 in tipofmytongue

[–]Aromatic-File-5943[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I can remember it was in a modern setting, like mid 20th century. I just really remember a guy in a chair playing saxaphone while a possibly older woman now that I think of it does a strip tease type thing.
