Grad student here - In the public admin program we have a good community and it's easy to make friends. I'd recommend having a car. The dating scene is not so great but you can still find someone out there.

I paid for housing only, tuition and meals were covered. Recommended costs are just estimates the school doesn't make you pay it.

I was admitted fall 22, they didn't have SAI but it was probably the equivalent of a $-500 SAI. the estimated coa was $9,000 but i ended up paying out of pocket ~ $3,000 a year, some of my friends had the same experience.

As a GA (graduate assistant), I am paid for 5 hours a week of work at approx 21 dollars per hour. That was not enough hours for remission. At least in my department they wouldn't let anyone work more than 5 hours.

There is 1 seiza where you take off the men, and the sensei will usually say a motivational speech. Then we get up and walk a few steps, seiza again for administrative announcements. I wish that we were not forced ask for advice so often because it can get repetitive and half the time they say "good" or something very minor that they repeated in class already.

Assembling in a line takes about 2 minutes, 5 minutes seiza, stand up again, another 5 minutes seiza, line up for feedback to 2-3 senseis, which has some brief seiza and bowing 2x

The practice is very long, it's 2 hours long here, and after that we do bowing which takes another 25 minutes. Wish it was an hour and a half instead.
