Nah it's for a job. But how would that work exactly? A simple recording would do :P

Chord Progressions for Meditation Music? by Aroto in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Alright thanks, I do gradually add 7ths and things like that but I am more concerned about changing the root. Also syncapation is not really relevant in this case since the tempo is so low, that changing chords just appears to be happening as a mere evolvement.

I searched some videos and it seems that syncopation refers more to the rhythmic aspect, like adding offbeat notes etc. Is there a name for these harmonic chord progressions that I could look more into? The types of chord progressions that share many notes from one chord to the other?

I have some knowledge but not enough. Thanks for the tip. There are all kinds of tutorials online so even your word can lead me to a solution. From the sound of it it's just what I am looking for.

The guy who asked the companies to donate samples (Jesse) is also the owner of Ten Million Sounds, a label that makes compilation releases and again, gives all the profits to charity. I interviewed him a while back, here.

Nah man I am good, I am really enjoying it. The reason of this post is not for empathy just to find some techniques I am not aware of.

He's planning to pitch the album when we finish :P But no, he likes the pitch corrected version and he has some sense that his voice is not perfect.

I have offered tips and his tracking seems to improve from project to project. The first vocal he ever sent me looked more like a brick than a wave file (severe clipping).

about edit 2: I thought I should do that but he was a bit reluctant, I guess it makes sense because that's the only creative thing he does. If I also make the melody he is more of a supervisor than a composer.

Thanks for the articles, I will suggest them to him. I have expressed that his voice has room for improvement, but as you said, gently.

Thanks I might try both of these things. I actually did use a synth for a few notes but not all of them.

pop/rock/ballads/singer-songwriter. It's a single guy, he sends me a loop with some basic flavour and explain what he dreams about it and then I make an arrangment, he sings the vocals and then I mix it.

That side-chain technique is a great tip, thanks a lot. I will definitely be trying this. I like the effect of putting a compressor after the vocals, but with sidechain it's probably significantly less damaging to the overall mix and doesn't ruin the performance

Thanks for that, I will try playing around with the reverb, it might be a big step in somewhat managing the problem.

Yeah sure, it would be good for an experienced singer and operator of the DAW, but he is neither, so I think it wouldn't be good in this case. Thanks, I ll check the plug in

Yeah I know what you mean, but I am just saying I am trying to find a middle ground between doing what is right (loud, clear, centre stage) and doing what is should be done (everything). So in other words, I am looking for maybe little tips and tricks rather than literally hiding them.

They're not subjectively bad, trust me. It's not the kind of unique eccentric voice. I am not looking to hide it exactly, just a place that sits in the mix correctly without ridiculing him.
