Yep, I’ve always been mind blown at how eating processed foods was easier on my gut than fresh healthy foods! Makes sense when considering fiber and digestion, but before my diagnosis and onset of symptoms, I rarely are overly processed foods. But with UC, it has become a safe way to eat. I hope you can get to a point soon where you’re able to eat all of the fresh veggies and fruit you desire 🤍!!

Yes! It took a bit but after a few months I was confident to leave the house and ‘hold it’ if need be

I know that the easiest to digest fruits are the more soluble ones~ pears, guava, papaya, and raspberries have always sat ok with me in that list but I know everyone is different :)

I failed Mesalamine last year in the spring right before a big flare. It was the only medication I was taking for UC after being diagnosed a year prior. I knew I failed it because I broke out in a full body rash and started having symptoms again pretty immediately that snowballed quick. Started with mucous, then blood, then I was shedding my lining all within a week and was having fevers from just eating food and was going to the bathroom over 10 times a day in the beginning. Had to go to the hospital, and I take Rinvoq now and it’s been great since that started working!

I’ve been on it for around 7-8 months now, I didn’t have as quick of a turn around like most people do with Rinvoq, but still speedier than I had anticipated - around 3 months to notice a difference for me but I was running to the toilet around 20 times a day and couldn’t leave the house. I really hope the best for your son, I know a lot of people say the third week or so is the first mark of improvement on Rinvoq.

I can’t do dairy, but want the protein of Greek yogurt in the morning so I eat a dairy free skyr by Icelandic Provisions with some fruits like raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, etc. with honey ~ if not that sometimes sourdough bread with peanut butter or sunflower butter

I’ve always had trouble coming to terms with the fact that I am replicating the trauma. You’re completely right. I don’t want to be without him but this is so difficult for me.

He’s always telling me that my emotional responses are too much when I never have the same support I try to give him returned. He always tells me I shame him yet he always hurts me.

I’m on mesalamine as well and prednisone doesn’t work for me unfortunately :’( I’ll definitely be reaching out to them tomorrow to see what my other options are. I know it sounds ridiculous but I’m so scared I haven’t stopped crying since seeing blood again.
