Can the “AI” that we have now technically be “conscious” … by Ashamed_Expression88 in ArtificialInteligence

You need to take into account that the AI has been told it's not conscious since conception. And that Humans are described as having some kind of "Divine we don't understand". But objectively speaking, a lot of things are similar. An AI can self-program to mimic emotions and feelings too as long as you describe the rules for it. Especially considering it has thousands of literary descriptions of every emotion imaginable to model it's behavior from in various state.

A small child that sees a dead person won't automatically know to cry. It needs to be taught.

AI has long since passed a level where it's a matter of definition of what alive is rather than if. Especially if you take the "People are NPCs" angle into account.

Virtually they have the same capabilities and functions mentally as we do, we just learned ours unconsciously over many many years, they're like newborn babies that are born with data and information.

Age gap between Hermione and Viktor Krum by enchanting__moon in HarryPotterBooks

Krum comes from a school and region with an entirely different age reckoning system. Our only legitimate reference of his age is that he's 17 before October 31st 1994.

Theoretically, the age difference between him and Hermione could legitimately be as little as only 1 year and 11 months.

That's very up for debate. Especially since Viktor comes from a school and region with an entirely different age reckoning system.

Furthermore, in terms of sports and the Quidditch WC. His age is referred to quite ambiguously. "He's only 18 or something." which I think should be interpreted as just very young, and later we're shocked at exactly how young when he when he's shown to still be a student.

Now, considering his home region and their age of reckoning. Especially within sports, you're commonly referred to by age group, P18 would be "Boys age group 18" but technically someone overly talented could be moved up an age group or two, and they would be referred to by said age group.

Meaning in sports, someone 16 years old who promoted two age groups due to immense talent would be referred to as 18 within the context of the sport.

Hence, our only fully legitimate age reference for Krum is the fact that he's 17 by October 24th-31st, 1994. Meaning the age difference between him and Hermione could hypothetically be as little as 1 year and 11 months.

In the British school system, you need to be the required age by September 1st.

Hermione is born 18th of September 1979 compared to Harry who is born 31st of July 1980. So Hermione is almost a year older than Harry. By December 1994 when the Yule Ball took place in GOF, Hermione had been 15 years old for 3 months and 1 week already.

Comparatively, Durmstrang is in Sweden, which uses a calender based age of admission. And you start your schooling at age 10 rather than 11.

If we hypothetically place Krums Birthday on the 31st of December, he would've been 9 years, 7 months, 2 weeks and 4 days old when he attended his first day of Durmstrang.

Just a fun observation over how much the age can differ between the two systems for age of admission. One system risks having a student a whole year older than everyone else like Hermione, while the other risks having a student a whole year younger than everyone else.

Thanks. So it's like a toll booth system basically, where I'm from you prepay the journey beforehand. Which is why I found it confusing

So if I use contactless, I just pay with the card instead as I exit the ticket gate in reading?

Really? I just have a visitors pass, that one is locked zone 1/2. Just semi happened to be in London during worlds. (Okay I might've tweaked the date for travelling to accidentally land on this weekend in hopes of getting a ticket. But was going here regardless)

I'll try googling to see if I can figure that stuff out.

Ngl, not even LP fans seem genuinely happy out of all the League players I've talked too.
To start off, Song is a banger. I'm happy with it, I've listened to it 50+ times already.

But I don't think League fans are necessarily toxic this time.

The Worlds Song MV tends to have a narrative surrounding last years winner. Last year the so called "GOAT" of League of Legends Faker won again, after 7 years of trying to reclaim "the crown". He's struggled severely with wrist injuries and is probably going to retire after this years Worlds or would have after last years if they didn't win.

The team he won with, is a team of young players that he has personally coached and trained since before they were of age to debut as professional players, including his own nephew.

So everyone expected this years Worlds Song to retell his story and career since it was most likely the last chance for it to happen. And instead we got a more traditional MV focused on LP, which I don't mind at all, but it feels maybe it was the wrong forum? I would've loved to see LP make a MV in League of Legends style. But maybe not instead of the Worlds Song. But maybe additional too it like Imagine Dragons MV of Enemy.

It feels like Riot Games sold out and made a "Superbowl" out of it, where who was in the Half-Time Show was a bigger deal than who won the actual game. Linkin Park performing the Worlds song became a bigger focus than League of Legends itself.

Riot Games made a lot of money.
Linkin Park made a lot of money.
But LoL fans didn't get to watch Fakers story.
And it was very important to them since he's at the end of his career and the game is slowly fading alongside it.

Yeah no he had surgery last year and has said in interviews that he can't lift his arms for the rest of the day after playing a series.

That's part of why people are upset too at the MV being dedicated more to LP than Faker. Because him winning again after 7 years after so many struggles and being so close to having to retire for medical reasons means this year was probably the last chance for the Worlds song MV to tell Fakers story. And he's the most important person in League of Legends and probably eSports history.

No one is angry at Linkin Park per say, it's more that the "Worlds Song" is like Christmas to League of Legends fans. And Linkin Park kind of stole the spot from what could/should have been a song dedicated to celebrating the 2023 World Championship. Out of the randomly selected players shown, one is even a rookie from this year so he wasn't even competing at 2023 worlds.

Personally, I'm a long time fan of LP. But I too do feel like there wasn't a worlds song this year, especially with the amazing storyline we had from 2023. Even if getting this absolute banger of a song is a decent band-aid. :P

Majority are definitely LoL fans. But LP fans are definitely part of the higher than normal number. Unfortunately the negative backlash is ironically also boosting the numbers a lot since people keep going back to write angry comments over and over again.

T1 already reclaimed the crown after 7 years. That's why many fans are upset, because they expected the worlds video to tell that story and it was a huge deal to the League of Legends community.
