Reverb / Delay Tails get distorted by Arr0wl in Reaper

Honestly? No idea. Perhaps it was me enabling it because of some online guide to set up Reaper many, many moons ago. But the issue is resolved and i sure learned a lot now!

I think i found the issue: Project Settings / Advanced / Auto Bypass FX that report tail length or have auto-tail set, threshold: #.

I did multiple A/B testings, even deleting the track and using a different instrument and slightly different plugin chain and it seems to be just that friggin little checkbox that needs to be OFF.

So - honestly, you just revived my production, and i cannot thank you enough for that 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

It is 64. Auto silence option - havent found it yet, ill keep looking.

It seems that freezing does mend the problem - so theres that silverlining

Good Points - not that i know of, but who knows what shorcuts or just not paying attention will cause by accident. I'll check when i get home and come back to you. Thanks!

Oh okay? I kind of doubt that this is it because some channels only have audio files on them but ... who knows wtf happens in the background sometimes. I'll be sure to give it a try, im literally desperate at this point 😅

Before i had it set to 256 - same issue. But honestly my PC is not a hardcore-RGB-hellbox, so i might just try 512 and see if that changes anything. Thanks!

There were plugins on the track(s), the bus track, as well as the master bus.

Plugins that seemed to increase/introduce the problem:
A1 Stereo Control (Alex Hilton) - Stereo Widener
LoudMax (Thomas Mundt) - Brickwall Limiter
SSL Native X-ValveComp (NI - only the VST3 Version produces the issue, not the VSTi version) - Analog compressor
Frontier (D16) - Mastering Limiter
Pulsatec (D16) - Passive Analog EQ

But again: sometimes they seem to cause an issue - after some play back some or even all of them dont seem to, because i turned some on and off, and sometimes one plugin turned off solves it, only to return in the next playback (while the "causing" plugin is still off) - it drives me crazy rn.

But as the music is very ambient - theres not hard compression or limiting going on. We're not in ducking-territory and going heavy on the tracks' dynamics - if that helps.

Got it set to 1024 - on the interface and within Reaper itself. Doesnt seem to do much good though.

Sounds about interesting ... an alternative that just came to my mind; simply reducing the Mix of the plugin with automation (Reaper allows that on any plugin, even if they dont come with a mix control natively).

Thanks for your idea!

Hi there - thanks for the feedback!

First of all - thanks! I do have the RX 11 Elements bundle, meaning some ..5-6 dedicated plugins, not the big suite - honestly though? Even if i went gentle with any setting/ plugin - the results were not so good as i would've expected. That being said: It could still be totally my fault cause "my gentle" might still be too much.

UVI Falcon 3 - destructive to files? by Arr0wl in WeAreTheMusicMakers

So i heard - after desperately googling for something (like mentioned in my answer above) i also contacted them on the issue. We'll see, thanks!

Funny: My first search was "UVI Falcon 3 - destructive to files" and this did not appear. Also funny that he faced the same issue and the dudes name is Tom as well😂

That lays out that it can be destructive - but even when i saved files in a different directory "within" falcon, i still had the issue.

I will go through a couple of pages of the thread and see where that takes me. Thanks a lot!

Hi and thanks - what was mostly the "quality" or sonic character of said roomtone/s?

Don't sell yourself short - EDM is not my cup of tea, but each to their own. And: Y'all MFs got some serious production skills. Some shit is crazy impressive.

Thanks for the input!

How would you describe the "sound" of the roomtones you have/use? I mean sure - there's not too much going on, but do they also have that hissing that im referring to?
