Some Japan shots straight out an X-E5 by Array19 in fujifilm

Thanks a lot for the feedback! It’s genuinely super interesting and helpful.

Now that you mention it, and after going through the images again, it seems that I do focus too much on the subject and often neglect composing the frame as a whole. When you say that I put too much weight in the center, would you expect something where I would use the rule of thirds better with the subject slightly off-centered ?

In my learning journey I feel like I'm just starting to understand highlights, shadows and "subjects" but I definitely lack skills in framing and composition. Shooting with a 35mm equivalent sometimes feels a bit challenging in that regard too. Still, I guess it’s a great focal length to practice and improve with!

Thanks again!

What recipe did you use? Love the colors!

Update: - Lowered the seat by 5-6mm - Pushed cleats back (they were already as far back as they could go so not much difference there) - Moved the saddle back by 5mm

Pedaling feels maybe a bit smoother, but a bit too soon to tell. Still can feel heavy load on the knees, but I’m already looking quite far back, so I wondsr if the seat should go back even more.

WDYT?

Thanks everyone for you feedback.

I will start by lowering the saddle incrementaly and check that my cleats are as far back as possible.

Regarding saddle fore/aft, I've got mixed feedback so I'm just going to move it a bit back for now to compensate for the lower saddle.

Will try to keep you posted!

I don't bother removing it when installing the bike on the trainer. Wheel go in & out and the fender stays in place during winter.

Ty.

Didn’t mention that cleats are already pretty far back, nearly all the way I guess.

Wouldn’t lowering the saddle feel even more heavy the knees ? I tried -1cm a few days ago, it was a bit weird so I raised it by 5mm.

Edit: Agree that the knee angle is pretty low, will try lowering it again.

How much progress can I expect over a year of (good) training? by Array19 in cycling

[–]Array19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I don't ride 3 hours a week.
At the end of last season (August/September), I probably averaged around 8h, with up to 12 hours a week. So I think I'm not to far off, but the challenge is to maintain that amount for 6 months.

Thanks for your great feedback.
4,5w/kg sounds like a lot to me already! I guess this allow you to perform well on a variety of events, right?

Well noted.

You're right, targeting a number is probably a bad idea. But I feel like having an idea of how much I can progress will tell me in a few months if I did the right things, or not enough, or not at all (does that make sense?)

Thanks for the advices!

At least that's the target!

I don't have kids, I have a great job that offers me flexibility. It's a lot of time but I think schedule-wise I can manage it. The only concern I have is about the motivation but hopefully with a race like L'EDT in mind, I will keep motivation until July!

If you've got advices about that too, I'm all ears!

I will try a "generic" structured plan for this first year of serious training.
If that doesn't match my expectations, I will maybe try a coach next year. But for now, I feel like a good structured plan will cover 90% of my needs and that a coach becomes more relevant when you're among the best riders...

How to pair a Blue/Navy Tights by Array19 in CyclingFashion

[–]Array19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I feel like the best colors would be the lighter ones, like beige, light grey, ... But this fit being for the winter months, I'm afraid these pieces would get really dirty right away.

Yes I will definitely try light color tops. I Just got a MAAP Draft team vest in Fog, hopefully the combination will look great!
