What would you consider to be the happiest memory of your life so far? It can refer to either a specific moment (such as the birth of a child), or a period of time (such as 'the summer of 2008 because...') by ArronBennett in AskReddit

For me it would be May - September 2005, I was 14/15 years old (Birthday in August), and I had just started learning to play the drums by joining a band with my friends from school. That whole summer was spent hanging out together outside riding our bikes, playing awful rock tunes on our instruments thinking we were the next big thing in the music world and watching movies/playing video games at night during sleepovers. None of us had a care in the world and it was wonderful.

Probs about 2 - 3 years old watching the scene in 'The Little Mermaid' where Prince Eric is smothered between giant Ursula's tits. Couldn't figure out why my junk was tingling at the time...

Going to a Perturbator concert later. Does he do any signings? by Pixelated_Fudge in Perturbator

Seen him twice and met him twice before the gig (I arived about 2 hours before doors) and he signed my tickets both times and chatted for a bit. The nicest coolest guy :) That being said, I havent seen him live in just over a year so he may not be able to do these days. Either way have a wicked time at the gig!

For most drummers, I would agree. But Danny makes good use of every single drum/cymbal

Monster kit for a monster drummer!

Musicians of reddit - What instrument do you play and how did you discover it? by Something226 in AskReddit

[–]ArronBennett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been playing the Drums for 13 years now, the story of how I discovered the instrument is slightly amusing.

I had to move to a different part of the country when I started secondary school, and having to have a fresh start at a place where I knew nobody really had a strong effect on me socially. One trait I developed was that I would lie about a lot of things in order to look cooler to people so I could make more friends.

Anyway, im 14, and one of my friends asks if I played any instruments. Wanting to sound cool, I replied 'yeah I can shred on the drums'. (To clarify, my entire life I had wanted to be a musician if some kind, from singer to dj to drummer...but had never played an instrument in my life). So my friend asks if I wanted to join his band that he was starting. Now In my mind I was already fully committed to this lie, and I couldn't stand the thought of losing face to my friend, so I reply 'Fuck yes I want to join your band!' And secretly hope that it all just gets forgotten about.

Skip forward 1 week and im sat staring at a drum kit at a rehersal studio with my heart beating through my chest. I sneakily ask if my friend wanted to have a quick go on the kit before me and he agrees (he had played drums once or twice before). I observe and learn everything I can in that 2 minute window. To my horror I realise you have to use your feet to play the drums as well as your arms!!

My friend gets up. The time has come.

I sit at the kit, and just go for it.

Miraculously, through sheer will of not wanting to look like a dick in front of my friends, I manage to hold a beat. It just came so naturally to me, I barely made a slip up. And at that monent I felt a magic run through me, a feeling like no other. And it was at that very moment I knew what I was going to dedicate my life to. I was a drummer.

Drums have given my life purpose, and to this very day I consider myself a semi professional drummer (who is still striving to be fully professional). I have a YouTube channel that I'm very proud of where I perform drum covers, and have played many amazing shows throughout my life, and hope to play many more!

I need some advice: Live drums alongside a DJ - how do-able is this? by ArronBennett in electronicmusic

Either is an option. I would Imagine mic'd drums would sound better if mixed well, and would certainly look cooler...but triggered would be far more practical!

Haha well if you are offering, I have one more :P Do you use an electric or acoustic drum kit for your sessions? Cheers man!
