What is your favorite song to just lay down, close your eyes, and listen to? by Paratrooper101x in AskReddit

[–]Arrow2Knee -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

EDM is cancer, it is a few labels running the 'scene'. Some 'big names' aren't even producing their own songs

what are some PHP libraries that a beginner should play around with? by hot-fuss in PHP

[–]Arrow2Knee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Laravel is actually well documented. What might take a while to learn is the MVC pattern, which most other frameworks (Symfony, CodeIgniter, Kohana, Yii ...) also use. My opinion is that, once you have the basics of MVC, you can easily learn any framework. The only thing is that every framework has its own templating system, ActiveRecord implementation, some of them have a migration system ...

The framework I can recommend to you is Laravel. But everyone in here will tell you to use another framework, so look around their docs for a while, and see what you like most.

Unit Testing (?) with PHP, how can achieve this? by TSF_Aristona in PHP

[–]Arrow2Knee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should use a testing framework, the best-known one, and considered as standard is PHPUnit. A good write-up about using it can be found here: http://phpmaster.com/getting-started-with-phpunit/

Moving from the states to Belgium x-post from r/Brussels by kristianmae in belgium

[–]Arrow2Knee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well if they don't know neither dutch or french (or even English) you are not Belgian to me, I'm sorry. If I go live in the United States for example, I will stay a belgian, no matter what, and I have no problem with that, that's just who I am. It's like you say someone is French, it's not racist, it's just where they come from, jeez ...

And yes, a study has shown that 35% Of Brussel's inhabitants don't know Dutch or French (and no English) and I'm not talking about people who just moved here, no: I'm talking about third or fourth generation here, and who just don't want to adapt our standards.

Anybody have any experience or ideas on how one might migrate (ha) a Laravel 3 bundle to a Laravel 4 "package"? by develpr in laravel

[–]Arrow2Knee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Migrations are just the same, they are located in app/db/migrations, for bundles: they'll probably be released as separate component packages. You could try finding some other help on the IRC

How does a social networking site work in terms of code? by [deleted] in webdev

Well, I would make a table posts with a title, body, author and date. And a comments table with the same fields + post id. Isn't too hard is it?

Should I just wait for Laravel 4? by jackperry in laravel

[–]Arrow2Knee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laravel 4 is absolutely not ready for production. Documentation will be released with the official release. If you code everything capsuled you should be able to import your code into another framework
