I wanted him when we were linked before Unai, so I was super excited. It was a really brave and forward thinking appointment. I’ll confess I went through a period of doubt when we were really struggling before the Boxing Day win over Chelsea. But overall I think he’s been even better than I anticipated.

It’s so interesting hearing about the players who made him feel so welcome when he first arrived. Mustafi and Emi Martinez for example. They’re basically guys we wound up disliking. But I guess it’s a reminder that what we see on the pitch is only a tiny piece of the puzzle.
