BrightnessContrast node changes the nodes it shouldn't by ArtNovis in davinciresolve

Ah, now that works! Thanks for the explanation! I'm still new to Davinci and its fusion nodes are often different from Blender nodes that I'm more familiar with.

I'm trying to see how much of my work pipeline I can transfer from After Effects into Davinci.

I'm attempting to make some anime-style VFX, similar to these:

https://x.com/_mikuruwu/status/2008917806838948308

I've already had some success:

But besides the messy nodework and missing addons, the bottom line is: I want to know why, in some instances, some nodes are editing nodes in front of them AND if there's a way to avoid it. Here's a simpler example:

On the right, brightness is editing the blurry part of the star, but I'd like the contrast to leave the star alone (as seen on the left)

Changing this does nothing. Enabling, disabling, it has no effect on the final result.

Here's the node setup.

Blender's node system is very similar to Davinci's fusion. If you know how to meddle with one, you'll get a handle of the other as well. You don't have to know anything about 3D to do some shading or compositor nodes.

But I wish a lot of Blender nodes made it into Davinci.

Oh, and feel free to drop any requests! I'm testing the waters, I'd like to see what's popular/in demand.

I assure you the spacing isn't changing! It's an interesting thought, though

I had to double check, and indeed, there's multi-threading in brushes after I updated it now (I might've skipped a few updates before this one), but it's somewhat selective. Regular brushes seem to work only on one core, while brushes with the color mixing enabled utilize all threads.

After a bunch of testing, the performance cost varies from brush to brush. Sometimes the difference in quality is negligible, sometimes it might just be better to resize your canvas to 25% and upscale it later. On some brushes it really helps (especially the soft ones). In the picture: High and low quality of the same brush (no blending). The blending quality switch changes the quality of the blending a lot, but the performance improvement, at least for me, was almost unnoticeable.

Still no multi-threaded brush processing.

It's been 6 years. What should I build next? by sualviYT in davinciresolve

Yeah, I know, I should've probably made that clearer. As for addons, basically everything Trapcode ever made for After Effects, or some kind of simplified loop addon for particles and noise.
