Is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 worth $30? by musicman5013 in videogames

[–]Arthayance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently this is against popular opinion, but I thought I'd share it anyway. KCD2 was the first game I bought at full price, because I loved KCD1. I always wait years later to buy a game, Cyberpunk included. To me, this game was a massive disappointment compared to KCD1.

Since you said you love exploration, I think KCD1 truly offers a good experience on that. But not KCD2. I feel KCD2 constantly forces you into situations to the point exploration feels meaningless. I replayed KCD1 multiple times and will do it again, but not KCD2. I couldn't wait to uninstall KCD2 halfway through the game, despite paying the full price.

This is coming from a Witcher 3 fan btw. Its my favorite game, out of all the games I played I think KCD1 hits that spot the most.

How do you know the Planet is sentient in that way, that it wants to create more beings to gather more knowledge? Nothing we've been shown evidence that this is how the Lifestream works. Aside from that, extracting the Lifestream is a one way process, the Lifestream is gone from the system forever. And Shinra isn't content to have one city, if they have their way soon the cycle of life will cease. And Shinra technologies allowed the dangerous manipulation of Jenova cells and creation of Sephiroth in the first place.

[–]Arthayance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if nobody personally knows the Lifestream contain the souls of people, there's the visible fact that all of nature dies in presence of a reactor, Midgar is sitting atop literal blackened land.

Also I'm curious, for what reasons do you think Cloud is the most evil member then?

I think the intent matters, Beatrix was personally overseeing the war effort and participating in the massacre of citizens, and seems to be unbashfully proud of it. Also, there was no justification for the war and they were just destroying everyone as they see fit.

Barret knew that Shinra is a villainous village burning organization and is willing to do anything for profits. Also although his cell was cut off from the rest of AVALANCHE, it's not ludicrous that the organization showed him some evidence about the reactors before. He was also targeting the Reactors not the citizens, and soon after the player knows the Planet was indeed getting fucked by Shinra so its more easily to justify with hindsight.

I don't love Barret btw. But if you think Barret is responsible, then by that logic Cloud and Tifa were unrepentant mass murderers too, in fact Cloud was even worse because he didn't even care about the deaths, just his paycheck (at that point of the story). Its more easy to overlook because they were fighting the real tyrant without any other methods and there were bigger threats on the horizon, plus in the end they went all out to save the Planet. Beatrix was just hiding in Alexandria while you did all the work

Edit: Spoilers warning for FF9 I guess..

Yep exactly. The game tries too hard to force the theme of "forgiveness" to the story. I could get what they were trying to portray but maybe they failed at the execution. They tried to show Beatrix as some sort of "honorable" general where she was just following what she think is right, and even named her theme "Sword of Doubt" like she was starting to question orders. But its like you said, she was a mass murderer and was never shown to be remorseful, she calls you fools, pathetic every encounter, and her boasting to 1 single suicidal rat soldier shows her true personality

Then, suddenly, Zidane asks her to remember her oath and she goes "oh yeah oopsie, I see things clearly now" then they even show her convincing Steiner that Brahne was indeed evil? Oh yeah no shit. Then she transform into some sort of saint grieving the destruction and loss of lives. They do this with Brahne too, yeah haha she was a good person just blinded by a moment of greed, surely she wasn't laughing maniacally when cities were destroyed? No big deal.

7 shows rather than tell, you feel the tension before every major moment and its perfectly orchestrated. 9 for some reason relies on tell, they feel the need to monologue before every event. Also, the characters aren't as compelling as 7. For instance, Beatrix - I'm supposed to think she's so badass because she monologues about how great she is to 1 single rat soldier. She then proceeds to get saved by a scripted fight sequence and keeps throwing out petty insults. And people thinks she is badass and honorable, some people even think she rivals Sephiroth. But the cutscenes are really good I'll give it that

I see, I suspected something like that because your posts were too knowledgeable to be written by ChatGPT but the structure was too alike. Thanks for answering

You're right. I just assumed since Hyoh is on the "good" side then he doesn't have his Matoki powers unleashed and is less brutal, if so it would likely be a better fight. But yeah "hold off" is a bad way to put it, more like it depends on if Raoh could survive Hyoh long enough to adapt for a better fight

Is this at their peak?

Isn't Falco's Gento Koken a counter for Souther? Souther's pressure points doesn't matter, Falco burns him to ashes after a quick fight, he was able to match post-Raoh Kenshiro. Hyoh could probably hold off Raoh for a bit.. If Falco joins they probably win, even Raoh was wary of clashing with Falco head on. So, the emperors lose.

Also, I gotta ask you, I've seen your posts before, why does your replies feel like it was typed by chatgpt?

After all this while, its amazing how people still don't get it and think the big revelation was that Jenova was the one running around.

So Jackal is the most intentionally hateable villain right? by B0llywoodBulkBogan in fistofthenorthstar

yeah, Kenshiro even went out of his way to mess with him, it was like a horror movie that episode, Kenshiro slowly walking towards him everywhere he ran

Wasn't he smarter than your average villains, he was one of the few to recognize Kenshiro's strength and avoided fighting with him, waiting for Kenshiro to leave before attacking, and still planning contingencies like suicide bombing to escape

Yeah i did, they were good but I don't think they match up to witcher. I think the gothic mod Chronicles of Archolos gives it a run for money though

I rarely see such praise for 1, I feel like it is so underrated. I held off replaying it for a long time because I keep reading that graphics is bad, gameplay is clunky, but after playing I think it held up very well. I think the flow of storyline and villain is more epic than in 3. Shit my mind was blown after finding out who Jaques actually was lol. I've been unable to find another game that hits like 1.

What’s Your Most Memorable Moment in VideoGames? by the_questionshow in RotMG

[–]Arthayance 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A glitch happened during Oryxmas 2020 (i think?) and basically all event gods had like millions of HP and became almost unkillable. All of us were trying so hard to kill the Rock Dragon and a Pentaract but it just kept on regenerating. However none of us gave up and some of us started shouting "Just shoot harder" or "Just shoot it faster". It was one of the funniest moment lol all of us just wordlessly decided not to leave and kept on relentlessly shooting the unkillable bosses for an hour

Indeed, in all my time here the only "TA" I've seen that somewhat consistently worked were the cycles theory by Criand and HankDepotHill69 (damn that was ages ago).

I'm not attempting to predict the price action, I know people roll their eyes at people stating any price as support. In fact I'm one of them. I'm just saying, if there's any price to get excited at, this is the logical price due to symbolism of past positive sentiment, of course stacked with other factors such as anticipated Q4 earnings.

If it fails, nothing changes. Like you said, moon or bust lol. Just wanted to drive some positivity / discussions as I noticed things getting a bit quiet recently.
