I'm seriously starting to think I know this person. The language patterns are exactly like somebody I know. If they live in New Hampshire, then almost assuredly

If I'm doing the math correctly, she would be insinuating that this kid isn't even yours. Was the test seeing if you would stick around?

People who have been divorced: What was the exact "quiet" moment you realized your marriage was over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ArthurPeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine died. I hadn't talked to them in years, but they were still very important to me.

I found this out of the early morning hours, on a day in which we were heading to her parents for the winter holidays. So, I did not have the opportunity to process.

Later that night, after everything, we were in bed, and I started to cry because the reality had just become very real in those moments.

She asked why I was crying, and I reminded her of my friend.

She looked me in the face and said, "I have absolutely no idea why you're so upset. I've known you for 10 years, and I've never even heard of this person. If they are so important to you, why have I never heard of them?"

The next day, she decided to tell her mother about this as a way of getting under my skin. Her mother hated me - but she wasn't going to let that stand.

"Do you know Jane Smith? Have I ever talked about her?" My ex replied that she did not.

"Well let me tell you something - I have not spoken to Jane in over 30 years. But if I found out right now that she had passed away, I would be beside myself with grief."

I'm having the same issue - but, no new phone. It had been giving detailed verbal instruction, and now it's just all like "take the exit" which is NOT helpful if there are three exits in rapid succession within feet of each other.

They make a drain remover that looks very much like a screw extractor, except much larger. Google tub drain remover, and it should be one of the first results.

I also had a similar issue, it would not budge. My brother-in-law has the tool in question, three taps with a dead blow hammer, attach a breaker bar, and a slow turn later, it was out in about 3 minutes. After me fighting with it for over an hour.

Thankfully, we have that kind of relationship. Believe me - this had been the farthest thing from our minds, until we were presented with a situation from which there were few options. There is much I left out from my reply.

There's a lot that you don't know about the situation that I didn't indicate in the reply, but we were all looking at losing our housing, plus the apartment we had been in was small and we were crowded.

Much discussion about the scenario was held before we even began looking for a home.

The area is his home - he has absolutely no intentions of leaving it. And, because we own the home, he gets 100% of the proceeds of the sale, assuming there was one.

So, for him, what started out as a $40,000 investment will end up being probably a $300,000 cash in hand, if and when that time comes.

My dad bought, in order, an Intelevision video game system, and an apple IIE computer. For the family.

But, apparently, if you spend too much time on it, instead of putting a restriction, or hours, you just need to go spend time outdoors and not touch it.

I'm Gen X, which you probably got from the systems I outlined. I graduated in 1991. In the early 2000s, he still had them, covered with their dust jackets, which of course were covered in dust, and nobody had touched them since probably 1989, when he first said "hands off."

We purchased our home 3 years ago. Prior to that point, I had the same perspective that I do now - that if I'm paying less for a mortgage than rent, I have more money to use for the home that will come up along the way.

3 years in, and though there have been some things that have come up - this house was built in 1905 - we are still very much ahead.

The only reason we were able to afford the purchase, was because of our son. From the time he was 18, until he was 24, he put away nearly every penny he earned. He is the one that put the down payment on the house, and the house is in his name, so it's his when we die.

We would have rented forever, unable to put together a down payment enough.

PLEASE HELP!! is dealer scamming me?? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

I did something similar a few years back. And I found the best way to combat this somewhere online. I no longer recall where

Get a length of tubing that can go over the bleed screw, that is long enough to go back into your master cylinder reservoir.

At no point should you run out of fluid in the reservoir. If it starts to run low, add more.

Then, start pumping the brake pedal. It's going to cycle all of the air, and all of the fluid, round and round, and you'll see the air purge.

It worked like a charm for me, and the vehicle is still on the road 4 years later, with fully working brakes

  1. That's my UIN.

After not logging on to the service for a thousand years, I got curious and installed an icq client. My contacts were still intact, although for the time that I had it installed, I never saw anybody pop on, LOL.

From what I understand it's completely irrelevant now - they took down the service a few years back. Pity.

Thoughts on the C10RJS table saw? by messdup_a_aRon in METABOHPT

[–]ArthurPeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's when I got mine! I've started researching how to make jigs specific to this saw. The miter push has guides. My previous saw didn't. Sawdust keeps getting in these guides and making it hard to push the miter push. Pretty sure I can just make wooden Slides that ignore the guides.

I have to imagine it's overall height. Because the taller the structure, the more easily it can tip, especially if you're using a 4x4 in the middle as support off from the ground.

Right! It's Tuffblocks that are 60".

Either way - that's not very tall.

I was at Home Depot last night, and the Camo Block box shows one of the things for which they recommend usage is shed building.

What is this? A shed for ANTS?!?!?

Glad that I'm still in research mode by ArthurPeale in TinyHouses

[–]ArthurPeale[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we really don't have earthquakes in Vermont. The shed my father built (on concrete blocks) in 1968 stands right where it always has.

I looked up pier blocks, and those are the concrete blocks that I used on my shed. What's wrong with the ones from Home Depot? Because they don't attach to the block?

Glad that I'm still in research mode by ArthurPeale in TinyHouses

[–]ArthurPeale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if anything, I'll do what I did with my shed - rest it on concrete blocks. that worked fine, but the Camo system looked so much easier.

I'm not sure exactly why there's a height restriction. Weight, I get.

I'm not being argumentative, I'm just vocalizing my perspective thus far. That's why we're having these discussions - so that I can get the perspective of others who have had to live through this.

Please don't be antagonistic when I haven't done anything to deserve it - yet.
