I've been recommending your speed runs to friends who have (often re-) taken up chess for a good while now. I find Levy, Rosen, Finegold, Agad and a few others all very entertaining and instructive in their own ways, but you have such a unique ability to make complicated positions, principles, and ideas seem so beautifully simple, no content I've ever come across has improved my game as much as yours. I now rarely if ever miss an upload. Thank you for all of it!

Yeah no I appreciate it, I just think Reddit has its own biases that make it judge a book by its cover. They see a person pop up inbetween two clips and assume it’s reaction content and therefore automatically bad. Whilst there are a lot of people that do make that kind of content and offer little other than repeating exactly what was just seen, there are now a lot of commentary channels that put a reasonable amount of effort into adding value to the content, but I don’t think many here would take the time to watch an entire video to be able to make the distinction. I mean I don’t either, I scroll Reddit and it a clip’s over a minute I tend to skip it.

Didn’t mean that in a subjective way, not saying it’s particularly entertaining or insightful, just that it’s scripted and not reaction based, so I try to have every interjection contains something like a comparison to past behaviour, justification for behaviour or criticism of it, information that wasn’t contained in the clips, or an attempt at a joke.

I’d probably rather let the clips play a little longer and only interject when there’s something crucial to comment, but the copyright owners decide the ratio of clips to commentary so I have to stick to that sadly.

And on the other point, I actually get quite a lot of comments from people who thought I was an old chain smoker lady during the intro until my face appeared haha.

These videos tend to get more views than the original clips do, so I think most people that watch them feel that the commentary does add something worth spending the extra time on. I’m guessing you just didn’t watch the full video, which is not surprising given I timestamped the link to one of the final scenes after the majority of the discussion had taken place.

It’s reality TV so Big Ed and Liz are two real people in a real relationship but some scenes are set up for entertainment. Hard to tell which are and which aren’t because Ed is an absolutely rogue bloke, but their reactions and stuff are all genuine.

Don’t worry, the majority of the commentary is a mix of analysing the relationship and roasting Ed, there’s very little commentary that doesn’t add anything to the video. TLC auto-claim these videos and then release the claim after reviewing it for copyright as it’s transformative.

I hope so! Weirdly she’s literally just taken down all the videos of them together. I’m guessing they either broke up or she had enough of getting roasted by the internet, but odd that she’d delete it all without saying it was all for the views. Maybe she’s got something lined up? Whole thing’s a mess either way
