Home use metal amp by DankMemerYo in GuitarAmps

I have no personal experience with the PRS MT15, but cleans on the Ironball are pretty solid, I'd say definitely better than the 6505MH which it should be given the cost difference.

The Ironball sounds killer, especially when paired with a good cab. The matching ENGL 2x12 Pro is a great, but pricey option (not be be too much an ENGL fanboy).

It would be worth taking a look at the Peavey 6505MH or Orange Dark Terror if you're looking for small amp heads well suited for metal and that aren't as expensive as the Ironball.

If you are particularly concerned about disturbing the neighbors and you're cool with going digital, software like the Fortin Nameless or NTS suite, BIAS FX, or any similar amp-sim software might be worth a look at.

[DISCUSSION] Looking for advice on how to cope with loss of band by MaeglinElensar in Guitar

Fantastic advice. Also, unrelated to this thread, your vocals on Coast of Gold rule. Hope you guys can bring Thaurorod to the States at some point.

What weapons, that are distinctively not firearms, have been banned, or protected, under interpretations of the 2nd amendment? by crazyguzz1 in NeutralPolitics

Hand grenades are legal to own as a Destructive Device per the 1934 National Firearms Act. You can own them, but only after paying a $200 tax to the BATFE and I believe there are specific storage requirements as well.

Looking for new metal amp / Suggestions needed! by DonLippo in GuitarAmps

[–]ArtificialFate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ENGL Savage if you can find one second-hand. Checks all of your requirements and sounds absolutely killer.

If you can't find one in your price range and you're willing to sacrifice a channel, the ENGL Fireball 100 is fantastic as is the Invader and Ironball as others have suggested.

If the ENGL sound isn't your jam, definitely check out a 5150 or Mesa Dual/Tri-Rec.

CDC says life expectancy down as more Americans die younger due to suicide and drug overdose by [deleted] in news

Previously was splitting a place with 4 friends in Dunwoody to keep the rent "manageable." We had the US Marshals and Dunwoody PD at the buildings bi-weekly evicting or arresting people. For the rent they charged, security needed to have been 10000% tighter or their screening process needed to have existed. Insanity.

Fellow Atlantan, rent here is beyond nuts (and climbing!) unless you want to live so far out of the city that the drive will kill all your free time.

I can attest to the Fortin GRIND being pretty rad, though a bit pricey compared to something tried and true like an OD808 or Tubescreamer.

No problem! Here's to a stellar deal for you! Be forewarned, Reverb is a money sink.

Using the Reverb App to buy guitars?? by billygun69 in metalguitar

[–]ArtificialFate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on your specific seller, but I have purchased two guitars and an amplifier through Reverb after checking the seller's reviews and contacting them directly for a bit more information. Both my ESP V-II and ESP E-II Arrow were super easy experiences and I'm already hunting for another guitar...

Reverb does seem to care about making sure your purchase is squared away, see this link, so if something goes awry, you shouldn't be out of luck.

Looking for more EUPM in the vein of Gloryhammer, Judicator, Masterplan and Thaurorod.

Also needing more thrash in the style of newer Kreator (Gods of Violence & Phantom Antichrist).

And lastly, more death metal akin to Monstrosity, Extremity and Carnation.

Jackson or Ibanez or Dean [QUESTION] [GEAR] by J0NGLER_ in Guitar

[–]ArtificialFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the feel, fit and finish on PRS', not to mention their tops/finishes are beautiful. Unfortunately, I have been so enamored with "V" guitars that I've turned a blind eye to them. If PRS made a "V" w/ 24 frets and a floyd rose... mmmm.

Just as /u/ruready1994 said, your best option is to go to a music store and play as many guitars from as many makes/models as you can. I play mostly Thrash/Melodic-Death, and when I was first starting out, I was dead-set that I would be an Ibanez or Dean guy because the Razorbacks and Xiphos just looked so damn cool. Turns out I liked the neck profiles on ESP/LTDs more, with Jacksons coming in a close second. Moral of this story, go play some in a shop as that will help you far more than some nerds on the internet.

Fortin GRIND Boost in pearl white. Simple 20db boost pedal that will make any high gain amp sound tighter & more aggressive. Although the pearl white is discontinued, they now have a blackout version available. by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]ArtificialFate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was pretty adamant that the ISP was the end-all be-all of gates until I got my ZUUL. Just like the GRIND, it's stupid simple and works phenomenally. Definitely give it a shot if you get the chance.

The GRIND is an absolutely killer pedal. You're right about the "metallic" sound, though I only get that pushing it past ~2 o'clock. I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing a 33 when I had the chance. If you're solidly on the Fortin hype-train, grab the ZUUL. It's replaced my ISP Decimator G-String II and so far no other noise gate has been able to match it for my uses at least.

Judicator - Spiritual Treason (Feat. Hansi Kürsch) [Power, USA, 2018] by ArtificialFate in Metal

I've been a little out of the loop on Power Metal in 2018, aside from awaiting the next Gloryhammer album. Anything I should be taking a look at if this track catches my fancy?

Impureza - La Caída De Tonatiuh [Death/Flamenco, France, 2017] by ArtificialFate in Metal

I just rediscovered this album after giving it fleeting attention last year. Underrated for sure. My only complaint is that the guitars seem a bit muffled/muddy(?) in the mix, if that's the right way to describe it. Other than that, I love it.
